Meanwhile, the world is dying from vengeance and you are apart of the reason. The world is dying because you and I aren't equal to the task we have to forgive. We wish pain on the world and it comes right back. All the sick psychotics of our world all produced by vengeance.

I'm a Democrat but not particularly liberal. I support the death penalty and believe that its use needs to be expanded to include habitual criminals.

People are less likely to do something wrong knowing what it will cost them, other places do this and have much lower crime rates where they do extreme forms of punishment. We dont need to go as far as cutting off hands for stealing, but you get the idea.

This +1, but add that death penalty cases go to the front of the line and have a 2-appeal limit (original verdict + 2 appeals = 3 at bats). Appeals are to be held within 180 days of the original verdict and the 2nd appeal no more than 180 days after that. If the death penalty is upheld on appeals, then the sentence is carried out THAT DAY.

Liberal, favor.

+1

It doesn't surprise me that you're the bloodthirsty type.

A real man doesn't need to kill others to feel good about himself.

Says the man who's handle on these boards is that of a fictional assassin/bounty hunter who prefers disintegration :)

There are multiple points to the death penalty conceptually but few of them work because of the way the death penalty is currently enforced. A capital crime with the death penalty attached can take decades to work through the appeal process, etc and the criminals know this. Due to those long times the criminals have no fear of them. Shorten those appeals and make justice swift and the deterrent value of the death penalty goes up considerably.

As for forgiveness .. why? I do not 'forgive' cancer tumors and let them stay in the body, so why should I forgive a drug dealer who kills a police officer? That sort of individual is cancer of the body politic and should be excised with no remorse. The same goes for serial killers, repeat rapists, child molesters and the like. It isn't about vengeance, it's about removing the bad apples from the barrel before they spoil the rest.

You now have two options for being liberal and opposing the death penalty.

I favor but, I wish it could be more expedited...

I don't favor people sitting on death row for 10 years waiting to die. If someone is sentenced to die, that person should do so in no greater time then 1 month, 30 days.

I also favor cutting off fingers (finger digits) for stealing things. It would stop a lot of theft in this country if people were to get a finger whacked off for stealing a car. Or a digit cut off for stealing 100 pair designer jeans.

I don't favor passing out felony's for non violent crimes ... why should getting a felony for growing 50 plants in ones basement be able to stop that (productive) person from getting a good job? All it does is make good people just go back to what they did before and possibly get a second felony.

Yes, the laws in this country are screwed up.

I chose last option to be consistent with rank. I think I'm relatively moderate as a whole, extreme in a few issues. I think the death penalty is a big load of steaming sh*t, the US needs to do away with it and stop being an asshole.
