I'd say probably only if you're into comic books. I read'em since I used to collect comics, but most people I know don't really find them all that fascinating.

I read the original at the local Minyards. I was shocked. Never bothered to buy it :|

I dunno, I haven't read it in years. I think it's pretty nifty, because the good guy goes down!

I still have two copies of the Death of Superman along with the the black armband. Ironically, one of the last comic books I ever purchased. I've got 5 long boxes worth of comics sitting in my garage right now.

I don't know why anyone is complaining about DC comics bringing characters back. Marvel is notorious for bringing back the dead...especially with the X-Men.

I thought the story line was very weak and the emotional content too contrived.

The best serie DC has ever done was Crisis on Infinite Earths, which you can also find on PB.

I don't think so, mainly because this particular issue had such a massive printing. I do hope that the signed & numbered copies of Spider Man that I have (signed by the author Zeb Wells) will gain some value. I really enjoyed the Batman HUSH series (have the entire set) and I'm enjoying Broken City.

EDIT: Did a quick check on comicspriceguide.com for Death of Superman. That issue had TWELVE printings, no wonder it has such a low value. The highest price is $20 for the #1A in 9.4 condition. While the first printing of Batman HUSH can go as high as $31 and it's a much more recent publishing. Big difference between DC then and DC now. Used to be that DC overprinted almost all of their comics leaving comic shops with a bunch of comics they couldn't sell the entire stock of to make a profit. They've learned from that and do not have such high print runs as they used to have.

I (pre)ordered a copy. I read the comics back when my friend had a subscription to the comics through the mail, but I've always wanted a copy I could read whenever I felt like.

To all the people asking if their sealed copy is worth anything... no. People have realized the collectors value of comics and other items in the last 20 years, so everyone who collects has copies of anything worthwhile in storage in its original packing. You'll never see a comic from 1994 or even 1984 go for $15,000 like X-Men #1 did a few years ago. Everyone holding a room full of comics in hopes of putting their 4 children through college and buying themselves a Porche: get real. You'll get $500 for your entire collection, maybe $1000 but that's it.

I read that in Highschool, about 8 years ago.... its not new that I know of.

EDIT: It looks like they added a new introduction so they could re-package the older book.

Pretty good as far as i can recall.

Man, you didn't know this? The Death of Superman comic was release about 10 years ago, he was killed by some ugly green guy, whose name I forgot (I think it was Bane or something like that). I have two copies, one was mint condition, in plastic, and the other was open to read, mint. My mom gave them away (along my entire comic books collection) to some kids when I went to Marine boot camp. Still hunting for the kid. :(

Doomsday. That was probably the only Superman comic I have ever read but I remember it being pretty weak. As I remember it was just a long fistfight, where they both ended up bloody and dead at the end. It created a big buzz at the time until they decided to resurrect him with a mullet.

This isn't new. I've had the book for about 10 years. I think this is just the first time it's in paperback. I really liked it when I read it back then, but I was only 12 so I don't know how I would like it now.
