In previous years, our company provided a profit sharing bonus that was determined by meeting quarterly revenue goals....the first 3 quarters, we exceeded (greatly in some instances) this goal, but magically, the 4th quarter would come up short and we would miss the bonus. This happened more often than not...

Our bonus structure changes every year basically to normalize out any swings in profit. I work in the steel industry, so prices have gone up substantially over the last quarter and we're finally seeing something worthy of the word "bonus". That sure as shit will be done for when they adjust it next year, but we should get 3 solid quarters of finally making money again.
 
Before you know it, they'll be congratulating you and sending you blue ribbons or certificates of achievement for doing it.
