Dear wise gurus,

I built my computer about 8 months ago and from the time I built it, it crashes randomly. I get a blue screen saying hardware malfunction. I have looked around and people have said to run memtest. I ran memtest from a boot cd and my memory passed all 8 default tests.

The crashing occurs more commonly when I am playing games and less commonly when I am watching media. Here is my computer:

P35 MSI Board
8800GT VGA OCed
E4500 intel
I am also running two 500gb harddrives
and have 2 gb of memory

Windows Vista (I received the BSOD in both XP and Vista)

Run everything stock, don't overclock and see if you have the same problems.

everything is stock. the video card came from VGA oc

Are you using onboard sound, or a separate sound card?

I am also using the stock power source that came with my case. The Antex Sonata III

I think I am going to go ahead and upgrade my mobo, cpu, and ram. the oct 2008 build list has given me some good direction.
