I played d-end/outside linebacker (our scheme switched them up a lot) and tight end. I always heard to never shirt tackle, and never did, but I can't count the number of times I was dragged down by my jersey when someone missed the tackle but caught hold of some fabric.

I was a DE/TE as well. How dare you let someone shirt tackle you! 🙂 I have more memories of catching a shoulderpad/helmet right in between the bottom of my shoulder pads and top of my hip pads after a reception over the middle. My coach just loved those drags. 😛

Yep, run 5 yards, cut hard inside the coverage, take two steps, put your hands up, grab ball, get pummeled by middle linebacker... Play after play.

I was lucky though, my coach had some longer tight end plays which worked well for me. Then you'd have a safety that was 60+ lbs lighter than me trying to take me down in open field. If they couldn't take me down they held on for the ride and waited for help. Either wrapped up or by jersey.

meh, its probably best that Texas wins. This way we can potentially have 3 undefeated teams all winning BCS bowl games (4 with Boise State winning whatever toilet bowl they get 'rewarded' with)...hows that for fucking indecisive championship?

edit: nevermind, Boise State will probably also get a BCS bowl, so that would be 4 undefeated teams that end the season in a major bowl game (if they all win)...what a joke. The best part is that one of those teams would likely play Florida...can you imagine that team beating Florida and not having an argument for being crowned co champs?

Has there ever been a time when there were 5 undefeated teams in Division 1 football the same season?

Yeah we ran a lot of double tight waggles/PA stuff that had play side TE running seams/flags.. gotta love when you get into the deeper coverage.. if the safety couldn't dive and take it your legs it was wonderful to feel like a beat with the lil' guy dragging behind you.
