That's her. Unfortunately, there is a minority that suffers a form of claustrophobia which means they can't wear a mask. Those are the ones who deserve sympathy and sometimes accommodation has to be made by removing these folks to non-contact areas.
As usual there is more than one side to this issue. We have people on one side who are egotistically outraged at being outed for their selfish unmasked piggishness and on the other people who are outraged that the those just mentioned are a genuine health risk. Throw in the political alignment stereotypically relevant and all of the other battleground issues associated with each side get added to the mix.
The result, of course can lead to magnified intolerance on both sides. It’s not a good time to have non political psychological issues about feeling smothered wearing a mask but since breathing is so intimately connected to survival I would bet irrational fears of strangulation would be rather common. It’s hard when your attitude toward masks is polarized and triggered, to have any sympathy left over for someone who may experience trauma related problems wearing them and suspicion is going to be quite natural.
Perhaps, though, in these early days of cultural adjustment to the necessities of wearing masks, those of us who can accommodate easily can temper our judgement of everyone of those who can’t.
Perhaps it might help to see that putting people down for not wearing masks enrages them because they actually already feel worthless and have a massive wall up to deny it just as those who won’t mask up for ego related issues are saying to people who do wear masks they are too worthless to deserve consideration.
Thanks, Trump, for making masks all about you. Thanks, Trump supporters for being conformist, cultish assholes. Thanks liberal for Trump derangement syndrome. Sorry to those who have real psychological issues with masks. Thanks Hayabusa Rider for reminding me to try to hang on to whatever I may have left of my humanity. Love you.
