“State of their own”. You are kidding Pres.? What they need first is their own Iron Dome.

The lack of a Palestinian state is their own fault for refusing to accept anything this side of a total eradication of Israel.
They have an Iron Dome. It's called, "Don't launch attacks at Israel." It's only their prosecution of a war against Israel that has their sky filled with Israeli planes and artillery. When they stop their sky is magically clear.

Eee-yup.

It's difficult to envision a long-term solution where the Israelis and the Palestinians in the West Bank live next to one another. The best (though possibly unworkable) solution would be to move all of the Palestinians from the West Bank to some other location, preferably far away from Israel, but where would we send them?

I had thought that perhaps we could carve out a piece of Iraq or Afghanistan for them. Perhaps we could find an area in Africa? We're certainly not letting them into the United States. What if each of the various Arab nations agreed to take a couple hundred thousand in?

It's not pretty, but what other practical solution is there?

I wouldn't have a problem with the United States offering to resettle all of the Israelis in the United States, cutting out a state for them. We should have just taken them all in after WWII anyway; it would have been a huge gain for our country in terms of raising the average IQ and importing hundreds of excellent scientists and engineers.

He was posturing.

The guy only cares about votes.

So what was GW after when he looked into the camera and with that look of total hate in his eyes, told Americans on national TV that gay people were the most sinister evil threat to America society?
Remember that?
What would you think HE was after?
The peace prize?

Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

So that summarises your most cogent thoughts on the Obama Middle East policy, does it?
You may yet be proved right, of course.

But was it worth the effort?
Relax, strange fonts can't kill or harm you. Just read the words, the meaning remains the same....

So why do you want the newcomers to stay while you kick-out the original population?

We're certainly not letting them into the United States. What if each of the various Arab nations agreed to take a couple hundred thousand in?
Most of the surrounding Arab nations have already done that, but with the exception of Jordan, they are mostly now in Post Arab-spring chaos.

I wouldn't have a problem with the United States offering to resettle all of the Israelis in the United States, cutting out a state for them.
That contradicts your earlier statement, but,
They would not be noticed in New Jersey.
We should have just taken them all in after WWII anyway; it would have been a huge gain for our country in terms of raising the average IQ and importing hundreds of excellent scientists and engineers.
The majority wanted to stay in Europe, the second biggest group did, indeed, want to go to America, but the US rejected them. The least favoured destination was Palestine, where they were all sent.
For details of the actual choices of "Displaced Jewish Persons" after 1945/6, see pages 256- 261 of "From Coexistence to Conquest: International Law and the Origins of the Arab-Israeli Conflict"(2009) by Victor Kattan.

If someone wanted your house without buying it from you, would you let them have a few rooms, "just for a quiet life"?
They have an Iron Dome.

No. They do not, they are shelled day and night without let-up. They are deprived of justice. They are being killed by weapons made in the US, which are given to Israel as aid.

The stronger they are militarily, the more war like the response to their aggression must be. Israel is fighting with kitten gloves today, you want a REAL genocide then you make their opponent strong enough to require one.

Ah, so genocide is justifiable. Nice.

I feel your pain.

Admittedly, your complaint has some validity.

But Obama is out playing golf with and raising money from the 1%...

Can't you even try and understand the President's priorities?

Thanks for your empathy.
Are you implying that he has no priorities? I always saw golf as something you did just before death.
If that is the case, is he just twiddling his thumbs while Gaza burns?

I had such high hopes... That Mrs. Obama has got some balls though, I'll trust her to get things moving for justice.,

Perhaps I'll ask her...

Actually, I don't remember that at all. When did it happen and what exactly did he say?

Why does Israel have a right to exist? Is there any reason or is it only an unexamined assumption you make?

Israel OWNS the US when it comes to Israeli interests - period.

The US is Israel's veto puppet at the UN; http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...78771O20110908. You have Barry pushing for Palestinian statehood in 2009 and then the US confirms vetoing said push for Palestinian statehood in 2011. And, this isn't the 1st time either. Also, in recent news, an Israeli government official tells Barry to fuck off AND Bibi tells Barry to shut his mouth. <--- UN has no power.....UN has no balls to enforce jack shizza and UN is very anti-Israel and always has been! Talking about countries manipulating other countries....
Some partnership this is,... we give our money to Israel ($3 billion per year), they then tell us to keep out mouths shut and do as we are told. And, strangely,.. most of you are perfectly OK with that. -- ohh boohoo!!

If we gave $0 in aid to Israel, I would honestly not give a flying fuck. Even on the veto point; because if the US is stupid enough to let some rabid dog manipulate them on international affairs - whatever. <--- you talking about Hamas and how they delight in the killing of Palestinians and children to use yo show how bad the Israeli`s are...now that's funny!!
But, to take my tax money and give it to a bunch of child murderers? Nope. And, then being told to shut my fucking mouth about it? Double nope.

Praising Israel's tactics (political domination of our own government - since the 60s frankly, taking our aid while telling us to keep quiet and lashing out like a rabid crazed dog) is sickening. For shame.
oh...boohoo having to read your crying is funny......

I am sure that you will admit that if Hamas was not in the picture, IMO there already would have been a lasting peace and a Palestinian state!

Most Jews that I know of believe that there could have been a lasting peace even with Hamas representing the Palestinians.

The Problem was and has been whenever they got close to an agreement, Hamas always added demands......or as waill the case with the last cease fire...Hamas broke the cease fire....

Get rid of Hamas -- not by extermination, but elect another group to represent the Palestinians and I would guess there would be a peace -- if that is what all sides want!!

I don't even consider it being pro-Israel, it is flat out obedience to Israel. Israel does not care, nor respect the US. The US serves Israel.

Also, imagine if Iran attacked a US warship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Liberty_incident) and then said; "Oops,..." in response? Or rather, initially; "You fucked up, you deserved to die." What would happen next?

The US is used and directed by Israel, and no one seems to have a problem with that on these forums for some reason.

As to how and why people gladly allow Israel to shackle, beat, berate and dominate the US,.. I do not know.

For a forum is is so against abusive authorities, I am not sure why it gladly bends over when Israel comes knocking in the news.

I'm with you on the mystery of the the great "bowing-down" to AIPAC of the US people and what I see as the opinion of a good slab of those on these boards in favour of "Israel! right or Wrong".

Less sure of where you are going with the Putin/ Malaysia flight thing.

Putin is clever, patriotic, bald and short. He is the human equivalent of a 'Jack Russell Terrier'. Persistent and feisty. Theyare good working dogs, fearless and show no pain.
They could beat the 'Labrador' Obama in a chess match, blindfold, whilst drinking a vodka shots for each move.

But that does not make him either good, fun, or a nice person. He had to sort the second Chechen war, which is not spoken of here in the West, but it was the most relentless and cruel war since Stalingrad. He got his way. He is tough.

IMHO he did not shoot down Malaysian flight MH 17. He would have known that the Puk missile launcher was in the Ukraine, and he has sworn to allow pro-Russian people around Donetsk, to have self determination regarding their nationality. But that is a basic, shared, internationally agreed starting point.

Five aircraft had been shot down in that area in the previous 7 days, they were Ukrainian military flights to the East. It was a tragic error by the Puk team. Putin did not order that, it has been a major problem for him.

Personally, if the people of Donetsk genuinely want to be Russian, I am OK with that. Don't forget, Kiev was once the Russian capital for several hundred years.

Let the people take the nationality they feel most at home with.

When the USS Vincennes shot down an A300 Airbus over the Gulf in July 1988 there was no flak for the US president. It was put down to an accident, and when the Skipper of the Vincennes retired, he received a medal.

Can you tell me how you answered my question. I saw on reason there why Israel should exist.
Because the UN granted what is in effect title to the land.

Israel is in stronger legal position than most other countries, unless you don't believe in the authority of the UN.

I can't help you with your metaphysical mumbo jumbo bullshit nonsense. I can help you with the law. International law says Israel has a right to exist.

I don't know what would be the case if Hamas didn't exist. Probably some sort of resolution would be possible. But in reality they do exist. Maybe that will change. Maybe it will change by genocide. I have no idea what will happen. I believe that Jakalas offered a reason why he believes that genocide is justified. I believe the Germans felt equally justified. I believe that thinking as I do, I would not have agreed with the German public on this because everywhere I look, people offer profoundly moral rationalizations for the atrocities they commit. The greatest threat I can see to the human race are moral rationalizations as to why some part of it shouldn't exist. I see no escape from that other than the abandonment of all ego attachment to anything but the realization that we are all one and the same. Those who love themselves don't kill that self in others. I love my country, but I love the world much more. I paid for that in all the pride I once had in being a member of the greatest country in the world. Now all I see are imaginary lines in the sand.

Nations rise and fall, religions come and go, families and tribes go extinct. But every day children are born fresh and clean only to be programmed into some new insanity. Someday perhaps more people will think like me. Everyday, I think more and more do.

No, I don't believe in any such authority. I see the consequences of such a 'wise' decision, and of course you can't help me with my question. Your brain defect causes you to poo poo anything that would take you into water more than 6 inched deep. Your job is to react irrationally to ideas that threaten your beliefs.

So are you saying you don't recognize the authority of the UN? Please be specific, my brain defect makes it hard for me to understand your superior intellect.

What does that have to do with the current thread which is about Obama?
