Dear paypal: WTF do you want me to do?

I sold a DVD player about two weeks ago on ebay. The winning bidder paid with paypal, but her address (**** GENESEE AVE. STE *** SAN DIEGO, CA. 92122) was not confirmed so I refunded payment and asked her to use one of the other payment methods or confirm the paypal address.

After a few days the buyer sent an email saying "hi i will resend a comfirmed address, but i would like for you to send it to this address **** GENESEE AVE. STE *** SAN DIEGO, CA. 92122" I replied and said this fine as long as her confirmed address is **** GENESEE AVE. STE *** SAN DIEGO, CA. 92122.

No response after a week so I sent another email asking them if they were planning on paying or if I should just relist the DVD player. So she sent a payment today with a note saying: "PLS MAIL TO THIS ADDRESS. **** GENESEE AVE. STE *** SAN DIEGO, CA. 92122 THANK YOU". Take a look at the address that's confirmed with paypal:

Jane Doe
**** doriana st #** san diego ca. 92139
**** genesee ave #*** san diego ca 92122
SAN DIEGO, CA 92139

edit: The auction states that if they use paypal I will only ship to the confirmed address

Take the money, mail the DVD player. It's that simple. The odds of this being some elaborate scheme are low.

Unless it's an elaborate plot to defraud you of a $50.00 DVD player, I'd say just mail it. Be geatful that she's patient and was willing to work with you.

It might not be elaborate, but it could still be a scam. As I understand it, all they have to do is prove I didn't send it to their confirmed address and they can get a refund w/o returning the dvd player.

So do I address the package to

Jane Doe
**** doriana st #** san diego ca. 92139
**** genesee ave #*** san diego ca 92122
SAN DIEGO, CA 92139

and hope that it gets there?

OK, so it's a $200.00 player, that wasn't the point. Unless you have concrete proof of fraud or you explicitly stated in your auction that you ship only to verified addresses, you are OBLIGATED to ship it to her. Otherwise be prepared to receive a well-deserved negative eval and be possibly banned from Ebay.

I did state that only confirmed addresses are accepted.

WTF? why would you send it to 2 different addresses?

Then complain to eBay and re-list it, oh and claim your fees back for the lsiting

explain your situation to her and if she doesnt relent withthe address then obviously you dont want to send it so put it up for sale again on ebay.

You do know that suite # and # and apt # can be interchanged right?

For instance, if you have a home buisness and you live in an apt.. what looks better
Jon Doe
1400 Mockingbird Lane Apt # 140

or
Jon Doe
1400 Mockingbird Lane Suite 140 ?

In that case you are in the clear and Ebay will refund your listing fee. Make sure you pointed that out to a buyer before she gets pissed and leaves you a negative.

The problem is that they are two dif. streets in two different zip codes.

One matches the address of the ebay buyer's name and phone number. The other, the one that she wants me to sent it to, is registered to a the office of some dentist who has had a few complaints about how crappy he is and how much of a money grubber is receptionist (his wife) is.

I just sent the 4th email to her explaining what she needs to do.

If they don't abide by the terms of the auction, don't ship. Offer it to bidder #2

Could it be that the second address is where she work and that she will not be home for package if you shipped to the first address?

Send the DVD player to one address, the remote, cables, any other accessories/manuals to the other address. Punish stupid ebayers.

there's a 95% chance she's a college student at UCSD which is a mile away. i live on genesee ave as well and could pay her a visit should she give you probs in the future. why do all the apt cost $1200-$1400/month

Don't worry about it too much. Just pack the DVD player and send it. If it was a $500 item, i would reconsider it.

But it's not that difficult to get remote/cables etc separately...but then this is also a good idea 🙂
