I put in a fake numbers and it tells me they are invalid, so it must know my real one already.

They seem to have access to all the phone switches or something. It only works with a number that is in service. So I just put in a random number like areacode-exchange-1000 that I figured would be in use, and sure enough it worked.

I only really use google stuff for youtube and adsense now. In fact I have a gmail that acts as the administrative contact for all my domains, and I've been contemplating on changing that to my own email server. I like to try to be as self sufficient as possible. I was also told that the yahoo hack that happened not too long ago also affected gmail. Did not even realize yahoo and gmail were affiliated in such a way.
