Heh. Glad to see I'm not alone :p

I also noticed that with the update the address bar itself now feels twice as tall. Instead of having just enough room to display the URL, there's enough blank space above and below it to damn near display two rows of text in there should you shift it up or down. In a space limited display on a mobile device, they could have freed up at least another row or two of text on a page by squeezing that back down.

Well, the address bar disappears once you scroll down, so I'm not sure why that's even an issue. It's a UX design choice - they also made the menu list larger and more spaced out for the very same reasons... usability. It's easier to thumb precisely what you want.

They should have kept the refresh button where it is, but otherwise, I am very happy with the new appearance. Small tweaks that can go a long way.

Yeah, the larger bar is fine because most of the time it's not actually there. But I still want my refresh button back.

Yeah I don't think it will hurt them to bring the refresh button back into the address bar.

I do hope everyone here that's complaining about it has actually submitted feedback and isn't just whining? If you don't tell them, they don't know!

1 star review from me in the Play Store. Is there another place I should complain haha?

That's really constructive. Sound like a lot of customers that I have to call after they provide a poor review of a customer support experience they had with our reps. There could be 13 Awesome things we did and 1 minor complaint and we get a 1/10 review. They instantly change there tone once on a call. (And don't realize we call all customers who leave feedback on there experience with our support team that is less than 6/10). We call to get more info and to try to resolve complaints. (I am a manager of a Tier III Tech Support team for a large company).

Is this really deserving of a 1/5 review? Com'on.

For some, it's human nature to be stupid.

Sorry what? Do you somehow have the notion that apps "deserve" to have a non-low score? I only give 4-5 stars for apps that are actually excellent beyond expectations. 3 stars is for apps that work as expected. 1-2 stars are for apps that are broken or regressed.

It's a feedback mechanism and I go back and adjust my reviews as the app gets updated. You might think it's alright to put a 3-4 star review but the reality of this world is that you have to make loud noises for there to be any attention.

The true stupidity is to knowingly leave a review that won't be scrutinized (because the user was happy right?) while simultaneously hoping something will be done because of that review.

If they operate like Youtube, they'll move it every 6 months. So, some of the time it will be good, other times near perfect, other times horribly bad. Just wait 6 months and you might like it again!

He mentioned anything 6 or below will get addressed. That's 3 of 5 stars or less. That's the way it should be, because rating something 1 of 5 just to get attention for 1 pitfall doesn't mean the app is really that bad or deserves to be slammed. That's more vindictive than anything.

Blame the devs who don't respond to user feedback. I've seen regular Joe devs respond immediately to all criticism for some apps. Making something a 1 doesn't get you a response all the time and often people will ignore the 2 extremes because of people who think like you.

It doesn't work this way. We see a 1/10, there better be something major going on to deserve that score otherwise we won't take you seriously.

Placing a Refresh button 1 extra click away doesn't deserve the app to be rated 1 star. It wasn't a good move, but its a minor annoyance. Google has tons of methods of communication for things like this. Use the Beta version and report changes you do not like, for example. It's partly why the Beta exists. (This refresh change has been part of the Beta since like July) Chrome has improved so much in the last year or two. People like you giving it a 1/5 review may distract others from trying an otherwise excellent browser.

Tweet at them. Use there forums. Use there Beta. Email them. Message there FB Page. etc.

It's my opinion.

It's definitely your opinion to have. But I'm inclined to think the dozens of people also doing 1-2 star reviews along with the regular feedback might be noticed a bit more.

Google generally has been "our way or the highway" so noise is the only way to even have a chance of getting them to do something.

I don't see the big deal.

However it wouldn't hurt to simply give come configuration options to choose where you want buttons to appear. ;)

I'm sure there is a place to give feedback for future Chrome features?

no, the nexus/aosp argument boils down to: google's UI is usually better than samsung's (or whoever's), and using a nexus device makes it easier to change what you don't like.

I disagree (with the bolded). In fact, I would go as far as to say that Googles stock UI is in general worse in both functionality and looks than NatureUX.

using touchwiz would be like using a consumer PC from the height of the bloatware days, but instead of the evolved XP user interface, you're still using the win 95 UI from a decade earlier. only more confusing.
Now you're just being hyperbolic.

Google has added a Feedback tool in many of it's products.

So if you want something fixed quickly then you need to use the Feedback tool in Chrome on Mobile and if enough give feedback on a lack of refresh button then they will have connected enough data on it to then realize it needs to be back.

It's Android. Customize it how you like....

This. I've never even defaulted to Chrome, anyway, I much prefer the stock/AOSP browser to chrome. Chrome is annoying on all platforms because of the Google login integration. I treat my browsers differently on different devices, so I don't actually want or need sync. I much prefer to use Opera or Chromium whenever possible.
