Dear Conservatives: Newt Gingrich was paid $55 million as a lobbyist

since leaving the House, he has done a typically Washington thing and worked as a lobbyist, making $55 million over a decade.

u mad?

Now, now. He was acting as a private citizen, not a lobbyist..... A private citizen with an opinion, and contacts, influential contacts. And compensation. But that's it.

So let's see, in the GOP field we have...

1. Cain - Amoral adulterer that doesn't believe in the sanctity of marriage like he espouses allegedly sexually harassed other women and believes that a Sim City tax scheme that is oddly familiar with a pizza price is the best thing for the country.

2. Romney - Paid WS schill that, while at Bain, took several companies private, resulting in huge layoffs, massive debt burden and most of his deals ended up in bankruptcy or restructuring. He is, effectively, Gordon Gekko buying a presidency.

3. Gingrich - Guy who traded in his name to peddle influence in every single industry that he now doesn't like - including housing GSEs (socialist empires), defense (small government!), banking (TBFT = FAIL!!!), healthcare (I swear, it was only the parts of Obamacare that *I* liked!), among others. Part of the "big government" revolving door that GOP "hates" so much.

4. Bachmann - Batshit crazy.

5. Paul - See #4.

So really, who makes a compelling candidate? Not one fucking person on the GOP side. Yet, the idiots of the GOP will vote for the GOP just the same.

Right on queue with the poll results here come the attacks. I can almost set my watch by it.

It's not the Democrats' fault that your party has such an abominable slate of candidates to choose from. Are you seriously happy with having Newt Gingrich as a front runner? Were you as fond of him 3 years ago, when he was co-starring with Nancy Pelosi to talk about the horrors of global warming?

You forgot Perry. 🙁

Paul is only crazy if you support the status quo. So what does that say about you? IMO mainstream Republican and Democrat ideology is crazy and I'm not even a big Paul supporter. I'd like to see him get the Red Teams nomination just so the dialogue can be mixed up a bit, but I don't see him winning. We need a change of government(getting rid of everyone currently involved), a reboot so to speak, if we want any real change.

I would agree, except I don't think not supporting the status quo is a good enough reason to support ANY random alternative. If my car is having engine trouble, I'm not going to just dump it for an experimental, liquid hydrogen powered rocket sled.

But your car has more than just engine trouble. It has steering problems, and constantly makes you veer off the road and crash. And its not just your current car, but your past half a dozen or so. And all those cars have increasingly cost your more money, time, and thus your freedom to do other things and be more productive. And all these cars have made you pay tons of money to other people and organizations that you otherwise wouldn't have due to the liability.

I get what you are saying, and maybe we don't need a total reboot yet, but maybe its time to start looking into that liquid hydrogen powered rocket sled. The one with racing stripes and flames on the side too!

Our situation in the US is not like a 'car having engine trouble.' It's more like you being strapped in the driver seat with a brick on the gas pedal, gun to your head, in the redline, with no coolant, with a bomb that is about to go off, while going downhill towards a cliff. That situation calls for a liquid hydrogen powered rocket sled. The other alternatives are 'stay the course' or 'turn the wheel slightly.'

And no.. I'm not for real. I just think your analogy is crap and calling Ron Paul 'batshit crazy' is offensive to anyone trying to have a real discussion.

The more prominent a candidate becomes the more scrutiny they receive. This is true of both sides so I don't see why you would expect anything different since it is completely justified (more scrutiny).

I think Newt is fine. Of all the candidates R and D he is the most intelligent about the issues; Foreign and domestic.

Pst..pssst...Hey man his isn't a lobbyist. He's a consultant. 😀

This guy is such a fricking douchebag....

It is a wonder Obama did not hire him to work in his administration. After promising to not hire any lobbyists, he put several into his administration.

The left is fine with that, so what is the big deal here?

Dear Liberals.

How much money have the Clintons made since leaving the White House?
They have done a typically Washington thing and worked as a lobbyist and the lecture circuit, making millions every year.

If I recall, Hillary eventually ran for the Democratic nomination.🙄

So, what is the concern?

Is the solution to exclude people from the government from acting as a lobbyist.😕
Where did I recently hear that one before:whiste:

If the alternative is Obama? Yes.

Nope, his douchebaggery with his personal and professional life is enough for me. Being a hypocritical lobbyist (Oopps, historian) is just icing on the cake.
