Try not scrolling so far down. The further you get from the top of the page the more liberal amazon seems to get with your search terms. When you hit chocolate milk that means Amazon has completely run out of shit to show you that has anything to do with what you typed in the box. Then it's probably just matching individual words or parts of words to item listings. I guess there might be a sentence somewhere in the description that says "Regular milk intake has been shown to improve health and 'memory'" or something like that.

It's easy to understand why amazon does that. They want you to see as much product as they can possibly put in front of your face. Who knows what you'll happen across and randomly buy just because it popped up while you were searching for something else.

I almost never just browse Amazon for this reason. Drill down only sort of works, search brings up totally unrelated stuff half the time, and some of their "related" item suggestions are just o_O

If I know exactly what I am looking for (like a part number) then it is fine, but keyword searches there have always been a trip.

Use the Hoverhound addon for Firefox or Chrome. Do your research at Newegg and then jump to Amazon if HH shows it being cheaper. Cuts down on a lot of useless wading through unrelated items searching at Amazon.

Newegg should stop selling that rosewill garbage and license their web site to other retailers instead.

And third party "partners" that enter product wrong (like 4GB IDE hard drives that show up when I search filter for 4TB SATA, or the chocolate milk issue mentioned above) should be reportable, with >X complaints getting them banned from the site for six months.

Rosewill garbage on newegg is fine IMO since its newegg brand and often a good enough solution. But newegg now has 3rd party sellers like amazon and they flood their description with crap terms like mentioned and shit up the search worse than amazon. Fortunately you can hide the 3rd party ones from the list on newegg but IMO if newegg wants them there they should police them or not bother. I remember trying to buy a cheap FM transmitter and there were like 100 different product entries that actually only pointed to 7 or 8 different products, only with "ipod" or "android" or "iphone" stuck pointlessly in the title to try and game the search. It made comparing the products a bitch.

Techs is right though, Amazon search could use some work. Its not the worst, but with the sheer breadth and depth of products available it really needs to be top notch. I always feel like I didn't exhaustively search in the end, merely that I got exhausted and gave up.

Well, I don't buy them so I don't really know but I've become a power supply snob so I'm the wrong one to ask. I have no problems buying rosewill cases, bay adapters, external enclosures, fans, things like that is what I meant.

Actually, some of Rosewill's power supplies are quite good...built by Superflower, such as the Capstone 750W and Tachyon 1000W. So, not all of Rosewill is junk, far from it.

And you're missing the boat if the Seasonic X series is your snob level. If you're going Seasonic at 1kw or below, the Platinum series is the true Seasonic snob level. ;)

If you're really into power supply snobbery, investigate something by Delta, like the Antec HCP-Platinum series by Delta. Better ripple/noise suppression and voltage regulation and better build quality than Seasonic's best. Honestly, have yet to see anyone other than Delta heatshrink all the line filtering components. And no one has the soldering ability Delta has repeatedly shown. As said on JG's test/eval. of the Antec HCP-850 power supply: "Soldering and board work is absolutely flawless. It doesn't get any better than this." Delta pretty much sets the standard for soldering and board work. And this comment really sets up what Delta can do (again, from the same review): "There are very few companies on earth able to outdo Seasonic, and Delta is one of them."

Another company and platform that pushes, if not surpasses, Seasonic in some areas is Superflower's Leadex platform. For instance, the Superflower Leadex 1300W Gold unit did platinum efficiency down to 20% load, Gold down to 10% load, less than 15mV ripple/noise on all rails at full load, and excellent voltage regulation. As JG's review put it, "If ever there were a competitor to Seasonic's dominance in the marketplace, it's this one right here."

So, I understand your want to snob out on power supplies, but realize there are better than Seasonic's X-series units, even from Seasonic themselves. (X-series denotes Seasonic's X-series Gold units, the Platinums are just the Platinums.) ;)

Yeah, I'm not to surprised they have some good stuff I just don't know much about them so I couldn't comment.

I just bought a Seasonic Platinum 660w and I kind of had to laugh at the felt bag that it had for you to put the PSU in when not in use. I always like to treat my Power supplies when they're resting with the most comfortable storage bags available.

Is it for real? Every single freakin time I follow a link to [H] they spam me with a popup saying to use it, which has kinda has me treating it like spam.
