I've been upping my game a little bit lately. I've hit a wall on the weight loss, and am trying to work out harder now, and trying to build muscle. What's wierd is that even though I am staying the same weight, clothes are still getting looser. Is it muscle weight? My legs are getting pretty lean and hard, the other day my pants actually got stuck at my calves...lol
My typical workout goes like this:
5km on the treadmill as fast as I can go.
I usually keep it on ~5.1MPH with occasional bursts up to 8.5, and slow down to 3 until I can go at it again. I noticed a new problem though, when I do my bursts at higher speeds. my legs feel like there is too much blood or something and I'll get a needle-pin effect for a couple of seconds. It's a new sensation to me, so I am a bit concerned.
Light, but constant muscle work.
After I am done with my run, I head off to the "universal" type exercise machines and try to get in about 50 (10 x 5 sets) curls starting heavy (which is 60lbs or so for me) and taking 10lbs off when I can't do the previous set. Then I'll move in to try and get 50 reps on other machines to work my chest, and sides. It's not a lot of weight, but when I am done, I think I am suffering from REALLY bad Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, which only gets worse as time passes.
It's affecting my work, but I am hiding it well, and I am unable to straighten my arms without intense burning sensation.
From what I read, I have to deal with the muscle soreness in my own way, but what about the needle feeling on the treadmill? I haven't found any real help on the web and am hoping someone here knows what's up.
I am thinking about doing a 12-week program at the YMCA (offered for free) to work with a personal trainer, but their time and my times conflict. Hopefully I'll figure something out and I can get some real help soon, instead of asking blindly here and looking completely lost.
I'm really trying guys...be gentle.
