Dealership question

I bought my new Nissan Altima under the Nissan college grad program and got approved for 7.44% on June 1. Today they called and said Nissan contacted them about the deal and they would be able to offer me 2.9% interest, just gotta come back in and sign.

Why would they intentionally call me back and tell me they could give me something better when I already signed and was happy with 7.44%? They're losing money and I would have never known the difference.

Maybe the dealership gets a larger cut off the 2.9% loan? Or maybe they're just trying to foster repeat business. Word of mouth is important to many dealerships.

It wouldn't hurt to swing by and check the terms on the new loan. Make sure the term length is the same and there aren't additional fees snuck into the agreement that weren't there the first time.

Sounds fishy though. Most people don't expect fair-play from dealerships unless they have an ulterior motive.

I'd say if you're happy with what you got, just ignore it. If it seems out of place, let it go.

No worries then. 🙂

wow, im impressed. i walked in, held up my new contract by my old one and went through it line for line, the only thing that changed was the interest rate, saving me roughly $50 a month/$3000 all together. i told the guy he had to be scammin me, he said to thank him on the dealer survey

something about a nissan college grad thing they just started but they were able to get me in on it.

Shens. Haven't your ever read a car thread here? All dealers are scum suckers and all salespeople eat baby intestines for lunch.

I am a finance manager. If I had written a customer at 7% and later learned I could get him 2.9%, I would give him a call and arrange to rewrite the deal. Sometimes things are as simple as they seem.

But, yes, all dealers are out to get you, so this must be just a dream you're having buddy. 😉

Congrats, however, I'm sure you've figured out you just saved a bundle of money.
