dealers who will check a batch number for you?

setting up an E8400 system and have a particular batch number I am looking for, anyone know of any dealers who would take the time to check for a particular batch?

Not sure if anyone got back to you on this - were you looking for batches on the OEM or retail chips?

In general, we can't get specific steppings, so it's not that we can take requests... more that we can tell you what we have on (some) chips before you purchase. The problem is, we can't go to Intel and ask for specific onces either, so we're just as much at the mercy of the stepping Gods as anyone else

yes, you guys replied very promptly. Basically I know a guy who purchased 4 different e8400 chips till he found a hot one: he was running 4.2 on air, and 4.7 on liquid, so I thought I would see if I could find a chip from the same batch.

While that is sweet with the OEMs he has...which are out of stock last I checked....his retail box prices are much higher then neweggs...

To the OP....I have been seeing all sorts of batch numbers doing well....I wouldn't sweat it, pay extra, or whatever.....

I would perfer an OEM since i dont plan on using the warranty after ocing, or the crappy heatsink and fan that comes with it

weel, maybe I won't sweat it: I plan on going liquid, so should be able to do 4.0 all day with most of them.
