Report from Madison, WI
First stop, Compusa, sold out, I knew this was going to give me problems. Next stop Circuit City on the west side, no PC2700 marked as PC2100, but I decided to try the price match. I almost got it at $39, but the guy went to the manage at the last minute (grrrrrr), the girl who was actually ringing it up would have probably done it. On to Best Buy on the west side, they wouldn't price match becuase CompUSA was out of stock, but they had the coveted Samsung PC2700, so I bought 2 of those (still 2 left).
Picked up my GF, had dinner, then on the Circuit City on the east side. This time I stayed clear of Computer Personal and went straight to the checkout, and the girl was ready, willing and able.......to give me the 110%, so I was out the door with 2x256 for $71.xx
Went across the street to Best Buy and returned the first pair of non-PC2700 and got my $210 back. Seriously, why would anyone pay $210(including tax) for 2x256 PC2100, when you can get Cosair XMS PC2700 1x512 for around $200 with shipping, and these places wonder why we are trying to price match.
So I still have to return the second pair of 256 dimms to circuit city with the $69 reciept price.
I didn't get the rebate slips at the second circuit city, but i did get them at the first store. I think the $10 CC rebate says you can send a copy, so I'm going to send a copy of my $69.99 receipt before I return it. I'll send the $39.99 one for the $20 one. I'll do the same, except my GF going to fill out the 2nd set of forms to get around that blasted limit one per person/house hold.
I do have a question though. The manager at the first circuit city rang up 2 sales so I could send in the rebates twice. Was he trying to screew me out of $30, cause the rebates say limit 1, or I wonder if he thinks I will get both.
Oh well, I think in the end I'll get my rebates. This is the first hot deal I've gotton in on, and I must say thankyou to everyone that has contributed.
