The service plan was a good portion of the cost of the computer itself. At these prices they might as well be throwaways. I'm surprised that two people were dumb enough to do that.

If I wanted to install 64-bit Vista, would I need to get all of the drivers or does Vista come with all of the drivers this laptop needs? If we need to get the drivers (which seems like a good idea anyway), could someone please make a list, preferably with download links? It would be a useful resource to those of us who bought it and want to either Upgrade to Vista 64-bit or XP.

The laptop comes with Vista Home Premium x64 loaded and the product page on HP's website has all of the 64-bit Vista drivers already. Now, if someone who has already compiled all of the XP drivers for this machine wants to provide a list of links to the drivers or a torrent package, that would be greatly welcomed.

I know, b-but I bought the 32-bit one with 2 GB of RAM that was on sale three weeks ago :-/.

(Fortunately, it only cost me $357 (and $352 after credit card 1.25% cash back) since I was able to use a 10% discount coupon I printed off the Internet, otherwise the hot-dealer in me would be sulking. Now I need a red hot RAM deal.)

I am sulking WhipperSnapper, I didn't have a 10% coupon and I would have preferred this new deal with 4GB and Vista x64. I called and all the Staples are out of stock today, but the one guy said a truck is coming in tomorrow around 11am. Does anyone know if these will stay out of stock for the rest of the week or if more will come in?

I did the system recovery to restore the Compaq CQ60-120US I bought a couple of weeks ago with the intent on returning it today. This will suck bad if they don't get the 4gb models back in for this price. I already had the CQ60 dual booting with Windows 7 on the other partition and everything....

Also I was able to view the coupon yesterday and now I guess the 10 limit is used up. Is there a way to find that PDF in my temp folder? I viewed it but didn't download it.

Thanks Llamabucket. I was able to view the PDF coupon on the other thread about that 1TB Seagate drive.

I was able to return the CQ-60 US-210 Compaq 2GB laptop today, so I hope the 4GB model comes back in stock. I guess I got lucky returning the laptop as I bought it on the 27th of Jan.

If this deal comes back in stock I will be well equipped with $90 coupon and both of my Staples gift cards (which I just found after I already purchased the CQ60-US210) that have $53.23 on one and $192.12 on the other.

well the pc was $430 out the door before the rebate and the plans we offer range from $90 up to $250ish. I'm not a big fan of the support plans myself and it annoys me having to push them but when you see how computer illiterate some of the people are that come into our store there are quite a few cases when they are worth the money.

Are more of these coming in this week or did I return my CQ60-US210 for nothing now?

If you haven't already done so, you might try calling the Staples number and having them do an SKU search for the item at Staples that are within driving distance for you. They could probably call the store and ask them to hold one, too, if they find one in stock.

I stood in line for 15 min. They only had 7 and there were 10 people in line. Its a very nice laptop for $400. I was surprised.

I was smart (or just lucky) and decided to go last week before the sale to the store....bought one at the original price and took the receipt back in on SUnday to refund the difference...aside from having a boat load of crap to uninstall it's a nice machine, and I love the number pad! Wish it had a web cam though:(

My 4 GB RAM ($27 shipped after $10 rebate from Frys.com) is coming in and now I need to decide whether it would make sense to blank my hard drive and install 64-bit Vista. Would I see any improvement in speed? Would an extra half-a-gigabyte of RAM make any noticeable difference?

Screwed! Either they're all sold out across my area, or my Staples guys didn't look hard enough for me :(

Did anyone get any of these or find any of these is stock after Monday? Seems ridiculous they ran out that quick.

The manager at my store told us that we only had laptops as a President's Day special and they weren't even going to be carried after that.

i got an accidental damage/replacement plan for like $160. i'm a poor college student using this laptop pretty much solely as my portable graphic design machine. runs cs4 great.

i got the damage plan just in case coffee gets spilled on it, it gets dropped, etc.

something that's portable that you also depend on daily is something worth insuring in my opinion.
