I've been browsing the forums and reading reviews about computer monitors.

It sounds like everything is sortof subjective. Having decent specs may not guarantee a beautiful and fluid display.

Seema like TN is better at motion, and IPS is better at clarity. Its harder/more expensive to get higher refresh rates.

Everybody seems to love the IPS displays. Seems as though those displays are of higher quality.

1080p resolution is the sweet spot because anything higher would require a monster system to render, especially at a good frame rate.

That being said, I'm rocking this little gem: http://m.cnet.com/reviews/hp-2009m/33557215

Here are the specs:

Gray scale light 251.0
Antiglare 0
Gray scale dark 7.0
Pitch 0.277 mm
Resolution 1600 x 900 pixels
Response time 5.0
Contrast ratio 1000:1
Refresh rate 60.0 Hz
Brightness 300.0 lumens
Viewable size 20.0 inches
Aspect ratio 16:9
Display size 20.0 inches

Back when I picked this up, I didn't do much in the way of research. Got it cheap at walmart, I wanted to retire my 19 inch CRT in the worst way.

I'm waiting for haswell to build a new rig. In the mean time I want to get a better monitor...one that can at least isnt outclassed by my tv in resolution.

I was looking at some newegg Black Friday offerings.

On paper it seems to be all that I want. But, maybe I should get a monitor with better resolution for future rigs running shinier games?

It's hard to justify a crap ton of money on a computer monitor given my budget... aaannd the wife.

For the money, is the newegg offering a worthy buy?
