I got it pricematched today. But had to go to three CC before I got it finally pricematched. First two told me that they dont pricematch sams club. The third had some junior employees who pricematched it... I am sure the pricematch policy prohibits the pricematch of sams club. I think the manager will pricematch only if he knows that we are ready to return the product if they refuse to PM... in this case we are getting a good deal compared to sams club so they don't have to price match.... posted the rebate forms today... waiting for the rebates...

A day late and a dollar short.

I found one of the 160gb's today that had the 200gb drive inside after looking at 6 CC. I did not know the rebates went off on Saturday so I bought this one and got the Sam's Price Match, but no rebates.

As I have seen lots of deals for 200gb for $100 I think I will just get my money back this afternoon on my way home.

Any suggestions????

I went into CC on 9/06/03 here in N.CA. and got the WD-160 with the WD-200 in the box. (One on the shelf 160 & one with a 200 in the plastic case as indicated). $199.99 plus tax $14.75. With the $30.00 & $70.00 MIR. I went back last night 9/08 and asked if they would PM the local SAM's Club? @ $148.27. They said yes & credited back my C.C. $61.09 . So I paid $153.65 with Tax minus my $100.00 MIR. For a Total of $53.65 for a WD200 and it comes with a free Ultra ATA Controller card ($50.00 value?)

SWEET !!!! Thanks for the tip.

I love this Web-Site.;)

09/30/03 UPDATE.

I went into the local CC (N.CA) with my downlaoded webpage from Sam's Club & the price tag sheet of paper from Sam's Club that you use to request the item as they don't keep it on the floor. By the way i just walked right into Sam's Club no card and got one of the $128.00 tags. I took that to CC and asked if they would PM it? No questions asked. He just processed it and adjusted it to my CC. The receipt looks as follows :

1 SL 1 WDC 1600JBTL PERIPHERALS 199.99
2 PJ 1 " " PRICE ADJUSTMENT 56.89 -
3 PJ t 1 " " PRICE ADJUSTMENT 14.56 -

TOTAL TAXABLE 128.51
SALES TAX 9.48
TOTAL PURCHASE 137.99
VSA-M 15.66 -
BALANCE 00.00

IF I CALCULATE PROPERLY 122.33 ?
MINUS 70 & 30 MIR - 100.00

22.33 FOR THE 200Gig WD.

I did this this afternoon Tues 2:30 PST, the 30th of Sept. So not all CC are not honoring PM's to Sam' Club YMMV!
As has been posted earlier accross the U.S.. The lines about an E-mail going out from corporate that they don't PM "Club Stores" ETC. That or this CSR is not up on the program!

:D

Any one that can send me a copy of a shelf tag from Sams Club or have anything else that could help me get the PM done, turned down a second time today and have to return this drive next week if no PM.

Thanks Micael

I have one WD 200GB hard drive in 160GB box that I will not need and will probably return soon. If someone has a WD 160GB drive in 160GB box that they want to trade I would be willing to trade mine for $20 and this will include return shipping to you. Your drive must be unopened/sealed and the UPC obviously must be unremoved. You would ship your dirive to me first and then I would ship the 200Gb drive upon receipt. Please PM me if interested. Heatware.

I got this drive on sat. When i called i was told they would pm to sam's no problem, and all i needed was to print out the price. They didn't have any 200gb drives, but 160gb for $60 isn't too shabby.

When I went to the front the manager took the flyer in the back room. When he came back out after like 20 min. of me just standing there he said he couldn't get onto sam's club's site, but every other site was fine and that their site was down. He said he could not pm it to this price because they would lose money on the drive, so he offered to split the difference. I then proceeded to pull out their pm policy that infy so kindly posted. I said that was absolutely rediculous and that it didn't follow their policy at all, and that he was lying about them taking a loss on the drive and that sam's site was down. I asked to use an internet terminal to see for myself. When I tried to connect to sam's site it was blocked at cc. I called my house, and had my family verify that it was up and running...so it seems that cc has blocked sam's site to use the excuse of not being able to get price verification.

I then asked them to call sam's, and the manager said that they won't give the price over the phone. That was bs because the way I helped the guy at sam's locate the drive was by telling him the price and him reading the prices back to me. I gave him the number and he disappeared for another half hour. He came back and said they wouldn't tell him the price. I said that was a flat out lie and that I would call them myself...he then said that he sat on hold for 20 min. and nobody picked up. I then called the number and got an answer and was transfered to the computer department in less than 1 minute. He said he could not use MY phone to obtain the price verification, that it had to be an instore phone...yeah...that is in their policy lol...I said this was absolutely outrageous how they had handled this, that they would repeatedly lie to a customers face, and try to get out of pm'ing the item when if there realy was a problem with the verification it was their fault and I shouldn't have to pay for that. He then agreed that since he was simply unable to reach sam's that he would give the $40 that he said he would origianlly, and that I could either come back or call them at a later date when their system was working and they would credit the remainder of the pm back to me. I agreed and left, called back the next day where I talked to a nice lady that credited me back the rest, except she messed up and gave me the full pm....that is right...I got an extra $40 off on this drive because cc figured I would be too lazy to call back the next day for the rest of my money! So in the end cc's manipulative bs lies came back and bit them in the rear, and I got this drive for $129-10%-$70-$40=basically nothing :D

After it was all over in the store the manager told me how surprised he was that an 18 yearold could be so determined and civil about this, and thanked me for not losing my patience. I laughed and wondered how many people just accepted their crap and left without getting what they deserved.

Now all I need are the rebates, which I can't seem to find...does anyone have the $10 and $70 rebates? I need to get them...could you please msg me if you have them...or e-mail them to colbycohen@yahoo.com?

oh...and i think i saw someone talking about using a sam's giftcard as part of the price...cc's policy specifically states that they will not do that.

I bought 2 160s at CC tonight. When they rung me up only 1 set of rebates printed. I noticed it clearly said one per customer/household on the rebate form so I returned one of the drives on the spot. I left for a while, grabbed some grub then came back and asked the same CSR who did the return if they pricematched Sams. She asked around very briefly, asked me if their price was after rebate and I said "no." She gave me the 110% back without even checking Sam's price. I think I am going to have to get another one and use my work address for the rebate.
