This deal is dead. See "Newest EDIT 3" for the current deal.;)
Starting Sunday 8-31 CC is advertising the WD1600JB drive for $199.99 - $70mir - $30mir = $99.99 after rebates, + tax on $199.99. drive $30 rebate $70 rebate Just as people found at BB this last week, many of the 1600JB's at CC are in fact 200GB models.

On Saturday there were 200GB drives in 160GB packages at the CC's in Madison Heights and Southfield, MI.

The deal continues. :)

EDIT: Many have reported being able to pm to Sam's club. Thanks to those who posted this, I was able to pm to $148.27 also. Final cost after rebates and pricematch = $51.69 including tax for 200GB SE drive w/controller card!

EDIT 2: As noted in the title, the deal is now dead to purchase the drive at CC. However, if you already bought the drive, you can still attempt the price match! :)

Newest EDIT 3: Circuit City now (beginning 9-14) has the WD 160GB SE for $199.99 less $70mir less $10mir.
The $70 mir says "Qualifying items must have been purchased between 09/14/03 and 09/20/03" so I guess this is not the same rebate as last time either. :)

$119.99 after rebate + tax on $199.99 isn't too bad, especially if you find 200GB drives in the package. I didn't buy any (I was picking up the free after rebate Lexmark Z45se printer yesterday) and saw some 200's in 160 packages in Southfield, MI.

Sam's club still has it for $148.27 online
here

If the link doesn't work, just go to samsclub.com and search for "western digital".

PM for a refund of $51.72, makes this a hot deal again. :)

Great Deal, now I know what to do with my $60 of CC gift cards! Not having to walk into BB is worth it too.

BB deal ends today. CC deal begins tomorrow.

Or buy today at CC and bring it back during the week for return/rebuy.

Supposedly you can look at the model number on the drive, and the number should correlate to the capacity (with an extra zero I believe). So if it's like JDL1600, that's the 160 gig... JDL 2000 would be the 200 Gig. At least that was what I'd read. :)

will rebates get sabbotaged cause of this or is it only the hard drive thats different inside. (meaning that box upc and other labeling will all be the same)?

It's only the hard drive that is different inside. The upc & capacity label are for a 160GB drive, which is what is needed for the rebate.

Opening post edited for linkage to 160GB drive and rebate forms, as this is now online. :)

Only problem with ordering online is that unless you do in-store p/u so you can personally inspect your drive, you may be getting "only" a 160GB drive.

So can we PM this somewhere like we were the BB deal? Or will BB not PM an after rebate price? I hate having to deal with rebates :(

Harper Woods MI has 2 more on the shelf. I got mine for 211.xx with tax - 70-30 = 111.xx. Not the greatest, but good enough

Oh... forgot to look at the online forms

Tozmo,
The ad in my newspaper clearly says both rebates. If only one prints out at the register, I would speak with someone about receiving the other one as an "instant rebate" since there is no form. ;) Then you would only have one rebate to wait for. :)

And as for identifying the drive as 160GB or 200GB, just look through the clear plastic "box" and look for 1600 vs. 2000 on the drive itself. Obviously this method does not work on the cardboard boxed units, but I doubt whether any of those have 200GB drives inside anyway.

I edited. BTW, by 'two more on the shelf', i mean two more 200's

The Circuit City on Glenwood in Raleigh has several(at least 3) of the 160/200's for those of you who missed out on the BB deal(mostly scarfed by employees, I'm told).
(in the back, on the shelves near the cashier station, not on the end caps)

Picked one up for $213 and change.
55 cents a gig is sweet.
Wish I had it in me to get another... sigh.

I checked the Saugus, MA store. They had a bunch of the plastic case ones, and they were all 160GB. There were a couple cardboard box ones, so those could possibly be 200s but I doubt it.

the BB deal ended saturday and the CC deal began sunday so you can do both and have a 400gig raid array.

my local CC has 3 of the 200gigers on the shelf, i checked yesterday.

gonna go get this and some of the CENTON pc133 256mb ram for $5.00 after rebates.

Not unless you abuse the rebates, which clearly state one per household/customer.

How would that be abusing the rebates? The purchases at BB have one set of rebates, specific to BB, from 8/24 - 8/30. The purchases at CC have two completely different rebates, good from 8/31 - 9/6?

Seems legit to me. I say go for it. :)

SUCCESS!!

I went to a local CC (21st So.) here in the Salt Lake Valley (UT) and purchased a WD 160GB that had a WD200JB in it.
I tried to have them pricematch to the Sam's Club price of $148.99 and they said no because it was a member ship club...... :(

However, after I got back I decided to look up Circuit City's pricematch policy online. Lo and Behold! Their policy says "any store" and "advertised" price. So I printed it out and the Sam's Club web ad and went to a different store (redwood rd).
They said they would pricematch it this one time - one per customer - I said great :) and took $60 back.

If I get my rebate back this will work out to be $52.50 for a 200GB - about .25 cents a Gigabyte!

PS
I have let 2 friends arm themselves with my reciept, samsclub ad, and price policy. They were successful too.

Thanks DUKAT1
