I did a search and did not see this so if it is a dup my apologies.

Buy.com has the Creative unit for $152 with burn-proof with no coupons/rebates needed. It does not mention what software is include other then a short description of the drag and drop feature, MP3, etc. I wish I had found something like this instead of having to do the TDK rebate and the hassles that went along with it.

I have seen in posts here that this is a rebadged Plextor. Can anyone confirm this?

Update..................
Just received an e-mail from buy that they have free shipping which expires February 28th, 11:59 PM.

I'd grab that for a friend if it is a plextor. Are you sure it is? Can you point me to any sites detailing that info?

thanks,
mikel

if this is a plex this is hot. if you got buy.com visa and still a new customer this drive could be had for like 130. pretty damn hot if you ask me.

I don't think Buy.com has any coupons right now. I think the price is so good because the 16/10/40 drives are starting to come down in price.

Remember the $10 coupon can not be used with free shipping option.

From the Coupon:
Please Note:
Offer available to new buy.com customers only.
One coupon per customer.
$10.00 coupon valid for credit card purchases only. No money orders, cashier's checks or personal checks accepted with coupon.
This offer is not valid with any other shipping, coupon offer or promotion, including price matching.

You can go through ebates.com and get 2% off of any purchase at buy.com; 5% for crucial.com and outpost.com

Hmm...it appears that a number of stores are selling this drive for under $200. Check here

Does anyone have any experience with any of the Creative drives? The last one I had from them gave me a lot of problems.

one thing to watch out is that if it is a plextor. Roundsparrow website says you wont be able to change the name back to creative lab once you changed it to a plextor. If anything goes wrong with the drive, you are SOL as that warranty has go to hell.

Wish I had read this forum thread earlier... I just got notification of a cancelled order today! I had ordered the drive back on the 26th too! Suck... well at least I got free shippiing on something else I had ordered from Buy...

I spoke to CSR. They said that they don't have any in stock and it is a discontinued item so it will not be restocked.

It's not definately a rebadge plextor. If it has one led then it's a plextor, if it has two leds, then it's a sanyo. Either way if it has burnproof it's a great deal. I have one and haven't had a coaster yet.
