My local store shows the printer at full price. Will it ring up $39.99? Is the pricing centralized?

You can give me the store number and I'll check. Thing is, unless the individual stores were given notice about the price change (or had it print out with the rest of the weekly a tags), they might not be aware of it themselves. So just because it may have the original tag on the shelf, it could be $39.99...and it probably is. You could go up to any customer kiosk and type in the sku and it'll give you the current price.

But in short, OD pricing is generally well centralized. Every single location I've checked so far (over 30, across the nation) have shown the printer at $39.99.

I am gone for the day. I'll collect any overnight if folks want me to check first thing in the morning.

Yeah. Seems like most stores carried no more than 4, most having only 2 or 3. So not a surprise that happened.

At #1, even though the inventory apparently showed some in stock, the employees denied this, and ultimately someone (a manager of some sort) told me that he thought it was a pricing error, since it had the wrong price for a close-out (should have ended in .01 or some such). He said he sent in a query about the pricing error possibility to the home office (which used to be _in_ that store, but no more) and made it pretty clear _he_ wasn't going to help me get one. So I trucked off to #19, where they again denied having any. However, the inventory showed 3 and I was friendly enough (for a change...) that one of the sales people hunted around for me, and found 2 (on the way-up shelf). The third one may have actually been up there somewhere, but 2 was plenty for me.

Anyway, thanks again, Excelsior!

(Now if I can just find toner cartridges for this thing that aren't way out of line - the last one I bought (5K page version) was just under $100 shipped. I haven't found any third party carts yet. I was used to (good!) 17K page knock-offs for my Lexmark Optra S at under $50 shipped...)

I agree I'm unsure on how much longer this will last. Thanks to Excelsior I tracked one down close by. Didn't have a problem with the associate ring up but the manager was working close by and over heard the 39.99 price. That manager started asking the employee what I purchased and for the Sku number while I was walking out, I could only assume he thought it was a price mistake as well.
I think someone mentioned earlier that the sales price was 1xx.xx, someone may have forgot the 1 during the update.
Thanks for the help Excelsior.

Hi Excelsior,

Would you be so kind and look up stock for stores #2598, 173, 614 and 2207? I'd really appreciate it. Maybe I'll be lucky and will get one?

Thanks.

Went to my local OD and some guy was buying the last one .. so manager checked some other stores close by in Houston and went to a store that showed 3 in stock. Got there and saw the display model but with the $229 price and no boxed ones to be found.

Looked around and found one on a different aisle ... woohoo ... then went to check out and manager came up just as I was about to pay and told the sales clerk that this is a pricing error! He didn't want to sell it to me but I told him I saw another store sell one for $39.99 just 10 mins ago and he let me have it. He then ordered an associate to make sure no more were on the floor and then he puzzingly asked me where I found it. hehehe

He was actually a nice guy and told me it was a corporate pricing error and that the clearance price was supposed to be $119.99. I did notice the model # on the box is ML-2851ND and the floor display price flyer showed it as a ML-2851DN so maybe therein lies the confusion.

Anyway, GL to others trying to hunt one of these down :)

As an aside - I wonder why they are being cleared out (at $40 or at $120). This is a new printer - just came out a few months ago. I picked one up at the time for around $180 AR, but the going rate seemed to be around $220-230, which I thought wasn't bad for a 30ppm ND printer with generally good reviews. It has worked well for me - 1 jam over 6 or 7K pages printed, many of them duplexed. Haven't run it networked yet (need to get the printer it replaced out of the way first...), but otherwise very happy aside from what toner carts cost. It certainly still seems current on Samsung's web site.

You're welcome guys. I figured some stores would give folks trouble. It was actually my assistant manager who brought the price to my attention, and he thought nothing of it. Hell, he wanted one for himself.

But if the inventory shows 3, then there are three, at least with the CICS. The customer inventory system doesn't update as fast. So it could be one or two off. You could always hunt one down yourself if you have to. The associates shouldn't care.

Good question. And $139.99 seems like a much more realistic price. Hell of an error to make. I'll know at 9AM tommorow if the inventory system has a different price or not.

I'll look those up tommorow morning.
