I used this tool (actually a Craftsman) at my Dad's house a few weeks ago to cut some drywall. Question: Do these come with any metal bits? I don't want to use cutting wheels as my Dremel has those, but if this came with a metal cutting bit, it would be great for cutting computer cases. I'm getting ready for my next case mod, and Dremels can go through some cutting wheels.

Can the Rotozip bits be used with the RTX, especially as those have metal, sheetrock and wood cutting bits ?

GasPath,

The kit I bought didn't come with any metal bits, but I did look at the display and there were several Carbide cutters there just for this kind of cutting. Also, if you find and print the $10.00 In "Black and Decker Outlet" store coupon, you can get $10.00 of free accessories for this kit..no charge 🙂

The carbide bits should easily cut the steel cases and should go through aluminum like butter..🙂

If Target is out will Home Depot pricematch it? I'd rather go there instead if they have 'em in stock cause it's a lot closer.

Bump for a great deal. My local Target is out but giving rainchecks. I'm personally heading out to Home Depot right now, they got a huge stock in there and they agreed to pricematch. Thanks again, I've been wanting a rotary tool for a WHILE now woohoo! 😀

Great kit + great price. Thanks guys, I love these deals!!!! Only 2 left in store.....Milltown NJ

Picked it up Monday, their were about 5 left in Fairfield, NJ. I already did my first horrible hack job. Fortunately, it was only to the 5.25 bay covers in my Enermax SX 1030B. Damn, that stealth CD Drive mod is difficult with the Chieftec/Antec style cases. :-(

Anyone have links on how to do some cool case mods like the stealth etc. ?

Also can I do case mods with the includes that came with the RTX or do I need to buy any different accesories? If so which ones?

Just picked one up on my lunch break. Check your SuperTargets, went to one in the DFW area and they still had 3 on the shelves. According to the box, it will take all bits that its competitors use, as long as it is 1/8" shank. I already have one Dremel, and the bits look almost identical. Definitely a hot deal if you can pick one up.

hm gonna check it out. i was at home depot yesterday and they had it for 39.99. it also has a 5 year warranty compared to the dremel/rotozip/dewalt 1 year. and ive noticed dremels seem to die around one year under regular use.

i had decided to save up for a rotozip cuz they have 1/4 to 1/8" adapter so you can use the dremel bits but for 28bucks i might have to pick one up.

<< Where did you find the Dremel kit with the flex tool and cutting guide for $60? I got a flier in the mail about a week ago showing a kit with the flex tool for $59.95, but when I got to the store, it was for the cheaper kit without the flex tool.. I was pissed. The one with the flex tool was $75.

I guess $75 is still a good deal for the kit, but I wanted to pay $60.

sorry to tell you that Home Depot change back the price to 79.90 now.
I bought sku#755041 B&M for 59.95 the sunday (12/23) before christmas

see my post in here

Now i don't know if Home Depot will PM their own price if the "sale" period is gone.
On 12/23, I ask a stuff about the B&D RTX (i will like a RTX-2) and he said he had this for 59. I said myself,..Ha? I know it is for 74 all the time (a flyer i got at Dec said price before 12/24) so i am unsure... take it to the reg and ring up 59! Yes. Wait no time to buy it.

Well, RTX for 28.88 is a very good price
(good review about them. Their disc seems to last longer, more powerful "engine", better grip and switch...etc and Bottom inter-exchange with tools of Dremel)
But my 59 for flex shaft AND cutting guide for a old well Brand name can not go wrong for me. 🙂

Home Depot here in suburban Detroit lowered the price down to $59.00 on the Dremel with flexi shaft and cutter guide (also contains the dremel chuck which is kinda nice). Model # MultiPro 3964-01. Store # 2706. Gonna take back my RTX - If you deduct the flexi and cutter guide (which I would have bought anyway) the base dremel works out to like $15and is variable speed to 35,000rpm(but is only 1.15 amp). Who knows, maybe I will forget to take the RTX back and forget to tell my wife that I forgot. Must be Alzheimer?s!!!

Ok, so I am dying to buy one of these, but I don't hack cases and I don't build models. It can't be that useful for cleaning grout, nor is that something I am into. Drywall only comes around once every two years.

So what is are some good uses for this type of tool?

so can I modd my case with hte accessories that came with it? Or is there something else I need to buy to cit the case metal?

My Dremel has been a lifesaver for me at the strangest of times. Got the B&D to supplement my aging dremel.
1] Bolts with rounded or broken heads can be slotted for use with a screwdriver/impact driver for extraction.
2] If the above fails I find it easier to control and drill an easy-out hole with one of these.
3] Turn phillips in to slotted screws and clean up regular screw heads.
4] Great help in installing a deadbolt by gently grinding clearance in the door & frame without removing too much material.
5] I really did sharpen my lawnmower blade with it.

Not necessarily an everyday tool, but when I have a problem and the light goes !on! this thing is worth every penny you pay for it.

The included discs should cut the metal, but they break easily. Just remember you are cutting with the speed, not the torque. It can cut quickly with alot of sparks, but that is usually at the expense of bit life. Take your time and you can get clean cuts with longer bit life... that being said I usually horse it a little because of the noise level. With the 2.0 amp rating the B&D should be better at doing that.
