WTF are you talking about Hoss? LOL!

LCD's now have 12ms-16ms response times. Stop talking out the side of your a$$. :)

As for me, I have money to easily afford the 24", but I'm just warning gaming noobs about not having the right cards to go with the resolutions.

In the end, it's one's own money, ignorance, and impertinence that will determine how severe, if any, the "headache."

I think a future Dell 27" or 30" LCD should be around the corner.

This will be THE size to get.

If you've ever visited the Apple Store and compared the 23" to the 30", it is NIGHT AND DAY! No comparison!

Plus, today's cards are not up to snuff with these new size screens. It's better to wait for the next batch of video cards that will easily be able to run 3D at these high resolutions (plus with Dual DVI capabilities for 25"+). By then, the prices on all these large size LCDs should come down in price.

In other words, it's better to wait for those who take their gaming seriously.

There's ALWAYS something better around the corner. U'll wait for 25"+ and there will something bigger and badder around corner... and u'll end up waiting, and waiting, and waiting.... while using ur miniscule 15" CRT monitor :D

Uh, wrong bud. I have a 20" Dell Widescreen. ;)

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to hold out until video cards support higher resolutions, LCD panels get lower in price, and the inevitable 27"+ screen comes out. THEN it will really be compelling for me.

For most of us who already have 19-20" of screen, I assume the 24" isn't as tasty as the next level.

I'm thinking of waiting until Fall releases as my 20" is PLENTY big for the moment

It's ur call bud :) I say I don't play waiting game, I'll enjoy what is available now while u play around with yesterday technology :D j/k, but really, there is always great stuff around the corner. I can't wait forever

With the large difference between retail and the price we can get them for just buy it and sell it whenthe new stuff comes out.

Over the past 5 years:

Bought Dell 15" LCD for $250 - sold for $300
Bought Dual Dell 1800FP for $400 each sold for $375 each
Bought Dual Samsung 191T for $600 each sold for $550 each
Bought Dual Dell 2001FP for $500 each sold one for $550 waiting till i get the 2405 to sell the other.

Bought Single Dell 2405FP for $940

The moral of the story is that i have had top of the line monitors every year for the last 4 years and its only costed me around $50 and a little time posting ads in the recycler + the price of my 2405FP. THANK YOU ANANDTECH HOT DEALS!!!

So just buy it and sell it when the new stuff comes out, just save your boxes.

If you wanna game with reduced FPS with this huge, it's your perogative pal. Pick your poison. ;)

Why are you in this thread anyway ??
If you're not interested in the monitor, then don't bother.

If you're a serious gamer, you wouldn't be using a LCD anyway.
Everyone know CRT is the best for gamers.

Sounds like he's trying to justify his 20" widescreen purchase while looking for reasons not to get this one (not gonna find any in this thread). :)

I'm using a BFG 6800OC that I got in that BB deal a while back for $200ish. WoW and HL2 run perfect at 1920x1200 on my XP 3000+. On another note, is anyones 2405 brighter in the lower right hand corner? Thinking about getting it replaced, is this normal(prolly not)?

You and me both mrBeBoT. However, I can't say I'm not a little jealous that everyone else's orders appear to be shipping today. However, it was good to see that our OP finally has his on the way. Hopefully ours won't be too far behind.

Here is a news for the people who cannot find Andy. I just ordered mine tonight at around 6pm with this guy at dell.

Email Address: timothy_ness@dell.com Phone: 1800-456-3355 ext: 41555

And also this 24" LCD is starting to appear at ebay for around $80 - $100 more. Looks like people who got their LCD's are selling with some profit, but i got mine for $906.

Mine is being shipped from Sparks, NV.
If I get lucky, it should be here Fri.

California always get the shaft. First Newegg, then this.

Exactly 47 hours from order to door. I placed my order at 9:30 on Mon. morning and it arrived this morning at 8:30 via DHL. I've got it sitting next to my 2 week old 2005. I'm running the 2405 via the DVI and the 2005 with the analog port on my 9700Pro.

I can only keep one. Guess which one is going back...:D

This works really well for videocards also (as long as you pick the right ones, usually top-of-the-line models)

Man..this is so nice, but I just bought a 2005FPW two months ago. :(

Component inputs would be very cool though for Xbox 2 and such...

I used to buy all my stuff from Newegg, but monarchcomputer is a viable alternative and you don't pay any tax. Selection isn't close to Newegg's but they've got most of what you need.
