What's up with the wide difference in price?

Would anyone who can get it for $85 get one for me please?

Thanks.

My mistake it was 84.91 for those of you who already bought the drive sams will give you the price difference at the membership desk. Im pretty sure you have a week to match the price. Just bring in your reciept and tell them you need a price adjustment.

i just tried to have the difference in price refunded, but because my local store is out of stock, the guy says I can't have it pricematched to the Texas location.

is he giving me BS?

The click and pull shows it at my store here in Louisiana for $84.91. I am about to run out and get this for my dad's computer, but how much slower is it than a 7200 rpm. There is a WD 20 gigger in his Dell already, but maxed out. If I keep the 7200 as the boot drive, and just use this for media, it should be pretty good, right?

He is giving you BS. You can return the drive and buy it again if he likes. The return period on Hard Disks is 15 days.

EDIT
Tigerbait: This drive is pretty fast. I replaced a 4 gig 10k scsi drive with it and have been pleased with the performance.

just got mine from the Amarillo Tx store for 84.91

Talked with a rep there as this was the last drive in stock and she told me that this was a special buy not a closeout and that they were set to get a new batch in about a week.
Sounds cool to me, gives me another paycheck b4 I go blow it on new hd's

A HUGE TU to db and Spuffin. :) I went to sam's Tuesday, $120.91 price. After a long 'internal debate', decided to flip a coin. Heads I buy, tails I don't. Came up tails and left. I saw your posts and went straight there. Got the "last one" for 84.91. Yes yes yes.

Saved 36.00 plus 2.52 tax total 38.52. :)(and I'm not down in the dumps for not waiting)

I owe you one. :)

Snagged the last one at Hodgkins, IL for $84.91 + tax. I had to drive there fast since they won't put the item on hold. Best Buy has the same drive in their sales ad this week for $169.99, any chance of them pricematching this with Sam's? I'll bring the item I bought and show them my receipt. :D

For those of you whose Sam's don't have it for $85, print out the price from the web site. Enter in my store, Kenner, LA, in the click and pull, put the SKU 282410, and it'll show for $85. I'd link it, but it has a session id which would be expired.

When I got to my Sam's I got the guy to pull it out of the security cabinet and showed him the printout and asked him the price. He said he would have to adjust the price if it didn't correspond to the website price. But it rang up at $85 so no adjustment necessary. Good luck!

BTW, here is a link to some reviews at Neoseeker.

got in at sams at N KC at around 720pm and found 1 in stock and 1 in the display case, called the mgr, woalah.
the manager was SHOCKED at the price, he called another rep and asked him to check the price of the 40 Gs cuz they both wanted to buy them,
paid 85 plus 5 tax per drive. been waiting for the price to drop for a long time.
