Dark MAX if it has the rebate on teh box and it has some yellow then that is the right kind. THe new improved optical technology refers to the upgrade from 1500 to 2000 scan per second in teh second revision. HTe newest revision is 3 which currently scans at 6000.

SO yes your mouse will qualify.

The rebate I found online through a Google search doesn't mention anything about valid on specific versions only so I am still going to try it and trust that.

<< best buy on line says $49 -$3.0 =$46 >>

That is the Explorer, the deal is for the Optical. BB Optical page.

Yes, IF you can move your mouse back and forth faster than 1/2000 sec intervals :)

<< WARNING: THE REBATE WILL NOT WORK WITH THE NEW REVISION 3 MOUSE.

I just got off the phone with MS. Only the revision 1 and 2 mice are included in teh rebate.

And they can tell by part number.

Again you must buy a mouse in the carton that has some yellow. If it has no yellow you will not get the rebate.

For those who don't believe me call MS yourself at 1-800-622-4445.

Just trying to save people some hassle not rain on anyones parade.

I just got back from Staples Pleasant Hill CA. At first there were none of them left, but after digging I found a couple with the # D58-00026 on it. On the tag on top it says "IM Optical 1.1 Win32 PS2/USB English NA" so I'm assuming that means it's revision 1.1? I'm pretty sure this is a new one though, it came with Intellipoint 4.0 software and on the bakc of the box it says 6000 scans per second. As for the rebate, I printed out one of the coupons and I think I might not get the rebate. At the bottum it says 0501 Part No. 098-91627, and my part # is 0501 X08-31414. Anyways, it's worth a try, and if I dont get it I still got a great mouse for 20$. I dunno which one i like better though, this Microsoft One or my Logitech Optical Cherry Red SE one... o well, i have two 30$+ mice :)

Here's the link to the MS Rebate forms, there are actually two different ones. MS intellimouse optical rebates

Another note... My sister and I both carried in the 10$ off 10 staples coupon to try our luck with it. My sister went up to the cashier with some pens and stuff and he rejected the coupon, didn't even bother entering in the code. I spoke to the manager (great guy!) and he let my sister use it, but said I couldn't use it because that's why they were discontinued in the first place... if the coupon said limit 1 per household I would agree but it says 1 per customer... o well, my sister got stuff and I didn't, but it was a great deal anyways

This is a greal deal if it actually works! But can someone please clarify something for me? On the Staple's site, it clearly says under the price matching policy that the price matching is done with the ending net price of the product including deductions from coupons and other whatnot's. If the net price is equal to the competitions' then no price matching is done. Can anyone tell me how I can use both the PM *AND* the $10 coupon in this case?

Thanx

Greatwolf, you don't have to care about the policy on the website, just try in your local staples store. Most of case, it's up to the cashier's decision.

Actually for me the cashier told me he's not allowed to do pricematching and i had to talk to the manager. I first asked him to pricematch with the best buy one, he said yes they were the same product, then I told him I had the 10 off 30 coupon. I had to add a small back of 97 cent pens to get over 30$, but my final price ended up being 23$ (for some reason i picked out a box of 2$ pens, not 97 cent pens :))

okie thanx. I guess I'll give that a try but wouldn't it look kind of silly to show the cashier the BB ad, get the PM and then present him with the $10 coupon? If I were in the cashier's shoes' I would more than likely shoot it down. The thought isn't very encouraging but like I said, I'll give it a try. If worse comes to worse and it doesn't work, should I just go back and goto another cashier and try my luck again? :D:D

I hope you guys have better luck then me, You guys won't believe this, the CSR at Staples said he couldn't price match it with the BB mouse because the warranties on the webpages were not the same, man what a buch of BS.

Yeah, see? this is exactly the kind of nit-picky detail I'm worried about. But I guess there's always another store I can try if I'm not so lucky. I'm gonna print the BB price for this mouse from the site and then print the $10 coupon. I'm gonna give this a try tomorrow when I get off from work. Hope it works!
*crosses fingers* cuz I really need a better mouse. hehehe

I just got this mouse from Staples for $19.92 out the door.
PM with BB worked, and the $10 of $30 worked ez.
Just hope that the rebate will work on this...
Thanx for the post xli1!

Any tips you guys can give me when I do the PM'ing and $10 coupon in staples? This is my first time doing PM in a store so I like some input on this. Anything I should do that will increase my chances of success on this deal?

Thanx

I picked this up w/o any problem last evening. Perhaps the trick is to first get the PM from the manager (or someone) and then pull the coupon on the cashier AFTER she has entered in the PM and said the $29 total. At least that's what I did.

I did have to buy a $ .48 highliter to get the pretax total over $30..I don't mind cos it smells like ice cream. :p

Good idea. think I'll try that. I just checked out the B&M Staples near my area after work. They did have the mouse in stock except for one little problem. There wasn't any $10 rebate sticker on the package. Should I worry about it or can I still get it to work with the rebate? I did ask one of the CS employee's and they told me there wasn't any rebate on that one. I'm going to try calling a few Staples up in my area and see if it's any different

mine didn't have a sticker but i'm not worried. As long as your mouse isn't 3.0 (apparently) then the rebate will work fine.

When I looked at the back of the package, the specs say it scans at 6000 per second. Also, the red box doesn't have that kind of yellow curve on it in the front. Rather the box has a curve cut out in the mid section showing the mouse in plastic. Is this the 3.0 version or earlier? If it's 3.0 then can I assume it won't work with the rebate?

Hey Venereal, can you scan a pic or use a digital cam to show me how the box you got for this looks like? I want to make sure I'm getting the right kind.

Thanx

Actually on second thought, don't need to do that, I already found a pic that shows what I mean.
This is the box I saw in my B&M Staples that's sold for $40 bucks. Apparently, this version is the one that scans at 6k per second. Will I be able to use the rebate on this one or do I have to look for this retail box? It seems the one I saw in my Staples is the newer one but I'm afraid of not being able to use the $10 rebate. The strange thing is on the top of of the box, the white label has the same exact code as the one being sold at best buy(D58-00026). Oh yeah, after asking the manager about PM'ing, I don't think that'll be a problem. :) Now I just need comfirmation that the $10 rebate will work with this. The CSR said there wasn't any rebate for it but I'm hoping he's wrong.

Thanx
