There's a discussion at FW about this deal. Both rebates require the original UPC. Both go to the same P.O. box with different offer numbers. Outpost clearly states $80.00 rebate on their site, so I would think that this would work (send both in same envelope to rebate house)......

Good Luck...

:)

Man, didn't read the rebate info...didn't realize it was two rebates totalling $80...:(

But Outpost is claiming $80 off....

i would be wary of the new 8mb cache drives that are untested.

the ibm gxp180 was just tested on the storagereview bench and came in considerably behind the wd drive.

just a warning. since this deal lasts until 12/5 on the 120gb... i think i will wait for the pending review from storagereview.

dew.

like the staples deal. but from the data on storagereview.com it appears the maxtor is slower then the new ibm 180gxp and WD SE. Im returning mine.

The Maxtor they used on the IBM 180GXP comparison test has a 2MB buffer, versus the 8MB that the WD and IBM have. Apples to oranges...

NOPE! If you look in the database it is the Maxtor Plus 9 160gig 8mb harddrive! Go to the data base and you can compare it to the 180gxp or WD SE. The formal review is done yet but the numbers are. :D

The Rebate Will Work!

I purchased a pair of two way radios for free after rebates on early Nov. The rebates also seperated into two with the same address. Furthermore, I received theri check last week. Outpost's rebates come very very fffffffffffaaaaaaaaaasssssssssttttttt!

Did both ask for the ORIGINAL UPC from the package?

Are you saying that even though both rebates required the orginal UPC that you were still able to get the second rebate by submitting a copy of the UPC even though the rebate asked for the orginal UPC code. Or did one of rebates simply require a copy of the UPC and that is how you were able to get both rebates fulfilled.

Yes, exactly the same case. Both rebates needed original UPC but the address were the same. It worked.

To make it clear. The returning address of the two rebates are same. You simply mail two rebate forms back with one receipt and one original UPC in one evelop. That is!

This sounds like a very good deal. So this should be a pretty fast drive? I'm still using a Maxtor 20 gig 7200 ATA66 drive that I bought 3 years ago. I've been looking for a good deal on a fast HD but I don't know if I should get this or wait for a better deal on a WD drive. I'm not in a real hurry to upgrade but this looks like a good opportunity. Can I buy it now or do I have to wait until midnight EST (9 PM for me)? It says you have to purchase on 11/29 for the $50 rebate.

Time zone? Yeah, That's what I concern.
I live in GA. I think I can get one at 12:00 am EST. Right?

Well, that depends on where the Outpost online ordering system is located......If they are on the west coast, you may have to wait until 3:01 AM to get the deal squarely! :)

I guess someone will have to order it at 12:01 AM EST and reply with their e-mail to let us all know! ;)

Yes, it looks like both rebates go to the same address. This is cut n pasted from the info for the 120GB drive:

  • Rebate amount: $80.00.
  • Purchase between 11/28/2002 & 12/05/2002.
  • Must be postmarked by 14 days from the date of purchase.
  • Mail in both completed coupon, original UPC code & clear copy of dated sales receipt to the address listed on the $50 MIR.

Looks like a good deal to me!

Thanks,
Jeff
