The day has come...3/5/02 expected shipment date. I went to check on my order and it still currently says it's on backorder, but the 3/5 est shipment date has disappeared. Has anyone received further information about the shipments of GF4 cards yet? Any other new dates, info, etc?

Well, I guess the question would be does any store have these in stock? I hesitated on this deal and didn't get in on it, so now I'd just like to be able to purchase a card at the retail price...BTW, I checked my local Best Buy and they said that "they don't official have them in stock." What the sh*t does that mean!? You have them in your advertisment but you don't have them in stock? wouldn't that be just a little illegal!? Its called false advertising! :|

its not illegal or false advertising because

1.) most likely there was no intent to decieve

2.) they post disclamers limiting liability

well the 4600's are available some places. I dont think the 4400s are available anywhere.

im sure they are slow with the 4400s so that they can catch a few more gf3 sales.

im resigned to hoping it comes in by the end of the month. its not like i NEED the thing right now.

was a good price for a gamble of geting it early. i figure the prices on the 4400s will come down almost as soon as they hit the shelves. at least a little.

This happens every time the new crop of Nvidia cards comes out.

People bitch and whine that they don't get the card on the anticipated release date. They hound retailers and get upset when the cards don't ship out on the date that they initially expect a shipment. They start talking about "false advertising" when they have no clue about what entails false advertising.

They piss, moan and whine when they get the card on a special coupon deal for a heck of a lot less then they could get it for retail and might have to wait a few extra weeks.

People are mad about the situation here because they were mislead. I, with many others, placed my order on the 22nd. On their site it stated that it would be shipped the 5th of march. I call today and they told me that no cards, either the 4600 or 4400, will not be shipped until the 15th.
Pure BS.

This sounds like the typical "Dell" deal. Maybe you guys will get the card by mid May. ;)

Yeah - I hope I get it around May 10th - then I can just say I bought myself an early B-Day present.

Seriously, people - WTF did you expect? I posted before that this deal was revealed to probably no less than 10,000 people. There ARE other forums and deal sites other than AT - and this deal was on ALL of them.

Thanks for that uplifting, positive post Uof1. I'm sure we all appreciate it.

SS284...I didn't ask her specifically which one. Since she was looking at my order (supposedly) I assumed she was talking about the 4600 since that's what I ordered.

Elvis,
I am not teasing or provoking anyone.. Just stating the facts. I ordered my card on the 22nd and wont see it before mid March. This is complete BS. Next time dont put a ETA on the card. I hope that some individuals recieve there card in a few days. But from what i've been told, no cards are coming in prior to the 15th.

Sorry if I misinterpreted your post. I to am frustrated. Not so much as having to wait longer ( I kind of expected that but I'm willing to wait because of the savings) but do to the fact that I have to replace my motherboard ( pissed off Epox8KHA+ owner) just so I can use it. I do think they (Gateway) should provide better updates but as the girl explained to me today, they're pretty much at the mercy of Visiontek on when and how many units they will receive. VT gives them a certain ship date and when that date arrives but no product, well....

Geez man, you are a big fat whiner...

an estimated ship date is just that... an estimate. do you really think that they can pinpoint the exact date that they will get a shipment?

Theres nothing wrong with having an ETA. However, there is something wrong when the CSR tells you that "yes sir, you we are sure that we will be getting these in on the 5th and yes you will have it shipped out then".

Ok, I'll give you something to whine about:

Just checked my order online and it was canceled:

VISIONTEK
XTASY GEFORCE4 TI4400

Product not available:item canceled

Order date 2/21.

Anyone else?

I received no notification from Gateway so I don't know when they did this. Also, they've pulled these items from their available product list- both the 4400 and 4600.

Ok, they're officially on my sheeot list.

Even with a good inventory system, companies can get hammered by the AT effect, especially when the item is a preorder. This deal was all over the web. If Gateway is cancelling some orders it may be because visiontek just told them there is no way they can deliver as many cards as they have orders for in the near future (2-3 months). I think gateway had no idea that they'd get this many preorders on such a high end card. Sucks if they cancel most of them, but if their supplier can't deliver the quantity....

Nah. s'ok to wine about being canceled without notification, imho. Whining about an esitmated delivery date, however...

My opinion only. Your milage may vary.
