[deal dead]Compaq Presario 2800 $659@office depot. Price error?

Obviously a price error. Too bad its not in my area because i'm very much in the market for that laptop.

Anyway, the 2800 goes for roughly $1999. It is a great laptop because its light (5.3lbs) and has the new radeon 7500 chip in there with 32 or 64MB of RAM. I bought a 1720 this week and returned it because the 8MB radeon in there just isnt enough.
 
i think that OD is going to introduce this laptop in the near future. it will be OOS right now for all of us.

when you click for details, it only gives you the processor info. Nothing else, no screen size, no memory, no HD info, nothing.
if you look at other lappies at OD, they will give you a complete info. So i guess, this deal wont do us anygood.
Unless, if someone is able to PM this to staples, then it would be a hot deal but again, staples wont PM it since the details for the lappy are not complete.

called them up right now....

heres what i got from CSR:

this item is not for sale via online/phone orders. Only available in stores. you have to go to a store and order one there.
My question is, whats the price at OD store for this lappy now ? if its 659, i am outta door then 🙂

Can we pricematch this print out to staples ? that would be a nice deal:
$1785 - $1237 (110% PM) = $548 + tax ?

gave my local OD a call and had them look up the item number, to place an order......no luck. it was showing as out of stock and not on backorder either
 
called my local OD....

they said that you have to come to store and configure it manually. then they will have to order it, they dont carry it in store. i asked for a price quote, he said that it depends on the configuration..then i asked for the least configured price and he said $800 and up.

what do you guys say ? is it worth wasting a trip across the bridge ?

it be what ..the 110% pricematch would give u 659 - 66 = $$ 593?
Not sure if they take ten percent of what they are pricematchin or the price of the orginal product

LOL if you check out the staples link you'll also find that there is a 200 dollar rebate out for this machine as well. Imagine pricematching with staples and then using the rebate. You now have the machine for ~400 bucks. I've never tried pricematching something at staples, anyone having any suggestions or think its worth a shot?

The description at OfficeDepot.com doesn't list any specs at all, so I doubt that Staples will do a PM. Would've been nice, though 🙂
 
I am not sure how easy it is pricematch anymore at staples

Every since they changed to 110% thing..i got no clue...

Usually depends on the manager.....The one i go to..never gave me any problems..the manager will just look..and say "oK"
and that's it...

that 200 rebate on top...would make this deal even more ridiculous
