Get a regular $40 atomic-accuracy clock radio for the clearance price of $15. This offer is good at radioshack's website, and also in-store if you print out the web coupon.

I can't get a direct url without a session ID, but you should see the ad on their root page. You can also search for item #12-1626.

edit: Thanks, robsdeals, for pointing out the free shipping.

I bought one of these about a year ago. I think it was on sale for $25. I wound up returning it because it was next to impossible to pick up the signal unless the antenna was near a window. The place in the room I needed the clock wasn't near the window.

I don't want to totally discourage anyone from buying this, because at $15 it is a hot deal, but think about where you will place the antenna. Also, I get lousy FM reception so your mileage may vary. Since Radio Shack is almost everywhere at least you can return it if you have the same problem I did.

FYI, this is not a clock that uses the Atomic Clock signal. It uses a secondary radio signal to set the time and the clock desciption claims Atomic Clock Accuracy

According to the website,

<< Automatically sets itself by checking a special radio signal tied to the government's atomic clock - the same signal used by the military and NASA. >>

FYI: NIST Radio Station WWVB

Just picked up one at one of the non-mall stores. Only one they had was the display with no box or instructions. Manager gave me another 10% off. Took it home pluged it in and within a couple of minutes had the correct time.

Also the instructions for it are at : Atomic Clock Radio

Any other comments about how well the clock-signal antenna works? Does it really have to be placed in a window?

I have had two of these for a few years now. I live in a brick apartment building surrounded by trees and triple-decker houses. I do not have these clocks anywhere near a window. However, every once in a while......like when the battery dies and I have to replace it, I have to put it near a window in order for the time to reset itself. After that, no problem.

This is a great price for these, and they are very accurate.

Get 'em if you can!!!!!

This clock sucks. My dad got one a while ago and it just stopped working for no reason. Get the one at Fry's that they usually have for $20, it's much smaller so better for travel as well.

so you HAVE to use batteries, you cant plug it into the wall?

No...

Like most modern clock radios it has a 9V battery for power backup.
