Just came back from Blockbuster. They had a sale of 3 movies for $9.99. I thought this was a decent bargain... then, I saw this deal!

Buy 2 Cokes and get 1 movie (5-day) rental FREE! Offer expires 8/12/02.
Total Cost= $2.36

Purchase 1 Vanilla Coke and 1 regular Coke and get the free movie (video or DVD). My local Blockbuster didn't have any Vanilla Coke left so I grabbed two Diet Cokes. The clerk said since they were out you've gotta get 2 regular Cokes. Each Coke cost $1.09.


Here's the breakdown:

2 Cokes $2.18
1 Movie $4.29
Promo -$4.29
Tax (CA - 8.25%) $0.18

Total Cost $2.36


PS: Blockbuster lets you keep 5 day movies for 1 week.
 
Nice Deal! The coke will help keep me up during the next boring movie selection I make. I always have bad luck on rentals and fall asleep. Thanks.
 
Yeah, I also got this in on this deal 😀 ... it's for 5-day rentals only, but over the summer 5-day rentals are 7-day rentals. And when I went, the guy said, any two sodas would be fine, since I was gonna get the 3-movie deal (but for me it was 10.99), but instead I got 4 sodas (2 free movies), and the 2-day rental for less than what I would've paid for just the 3 movies.

And the guy DID tell me that this deal was at ALL blockbusters so have fun buying all that soda... he mentioned they were gonna run out of soda fast... you bet they will!!

BTW, just for comparison, one soda costs $1.09 and one rental costs $4.49 (plus tax for both) so of course it's a much better deal to get the 2 sodas.

I thought that was "too much coke, bad for your sinus passages".

I always have trouble snorting coke...I tend to gag when the liquid hits the top of my nose.

 
crazy deal.. i was at blockbuster, i just need to rent a game which i used a free coupon 😉, but the guy in front of me bought 10 sodas count them 10 sodas, and got 5 movies for about $12 or so.. THAT Is smoking!! i am going to use this promo in a few days, it ends either 8/15 or 8/13 dont remember.
 
Went to my local blockbuster, asked the clerk about it before we rented and he just laughed in my face. Not cool. So YMMV...be warned
 
i went to my local blockbuster and asked about this as well... the guy told me that they were a privately owned blockbuster and that only the corporate blockbusters were doing this 🙁

and on top of that, some dick took the Swingers DVD while i was reading the back cover... so I ended up getting Go instead 😉

also, I didn't have my blockbuster card and all the guy did was ask for my last name... didn't ask me to verify my address or anything. what is stopping people from going in there and giving out a fake last name and then just keeping the movies?
