Deadwood on HBO, or "Watch Borracho curse like a sailor":D

I've caught a couple of episodes of Deadwood & I'm impressed, the miners/cowboys are dirty (like they really were) & the realism even extends to the guy's names, I grew up ~150 miles from Deadwood, & the names I hear on the series are names I grew up with, like Uter, Swearengin, etc...

I've had to revise my priorities, now my favorite shows are The Shield, Deadwood, Soprano's & 24.

Anyone else enjoy this series?

I tried to watch the first episode but the use of the f word a few times per minute turned me off.

Never bothered to ever try it again.

That seemed more realistic to me too, you'd have to be around some ranchers/farmers with a few drinks in them I guess.

I thought Hicock's use of the c*** word was funny as hell last night.

meh.

I'll just wait for the next season of Carnivale... if they ever make it.

God help us if they do! I find the show unwatchable, and HBO did everything possible to ram it down my throat last season, short of having the cast come to my house and act it out in person.

Are you serious?? That was one of the best tv shows in a long long time. Everything about it was great and it kept me watching every single week! What was not to like about it?

It's really well done, the cinematography is awesome. I wasn't really inpressed with the constant f-bombs, but according to what I've read, it was sort of the "word de jour" of that time period and everyone used it liberally. Al Swearington is the best villian I've seen on any show, he does nothing that makes me think he has a heart at all.

I taped the third episode last night, haven't watched it yet though. I'm really hoping they're done showing drunk naked men waving their naughty bits around :disgust:

The ratings must have been really good, because HBO picked it up for a second season already.

It seemed to me to be all about atmosphere, with nothing interesting going on emotionally or in terms of character development. I found it completely lifeless and dull. In all fairness, I only tried to watch it a couple of times, so it's possible I would have grown to like it over time, but what I watched was painful.

The pace was pretty slow in some of the episodes, if you watched the wrong one I could definatly see you getting turned off to it. At the end it really picked up and left with one hell of a cliffhanger ending though, I'm looking forward to seeing how they resolve it in season 2

Well, I admit, it was a really painful show to watch and horribly slow and made me so mad because nothing ever happened, but, it was stll a great show!

I don't have HBO because everything on it is crap.

From the previews, this show could possibly change my mind.

Is it not yet obvious that your opinion on anything cinematic means nothing? 🙂

It has value to intelligent people. 😉

I love almost every HBO series, but for some reason this one just doesn't do it for me... yet. I too was turned off the the incessant use of the f word, c word, c***sucker, ad nauseum; it just seemed entirely gratuitous to me.

Six Feet Under = Sopranos > *, imo.

I fvcking love it! Those cock eating mother fvckers put on a good fvcking show! Beats the fvcking sh!t out of anything else on that god damn sh!t box of a fvcking TV.
