I stared at it for like, 30 seconds.. Then I actually realized that I didn't have any idea what I was looking at. That doesn't happen to me very often with things like this.. LOL.

Audio modulating/thingamajig. Listening to the dude talk doesn't help much. He may as well be speaking Russian.
 
That is ridiculously overkill, but definitely defines his sound.

Cool stuff. Wish the stuff I made was as good as his.
 
Yet I've heard the argument that his music is "simple" compared to other dj's. If that's simple, I don't want to know what hard is.

had a buddy explain it

"Modular synth. Basically think of a guitar going into a bunch of pedals, but you can switch up the wiring to/from each pedal (module). Effects are sound shapers (longer sound, more chorusy sound, sharper sound). Instead of a guitar, it's a ...set of notes he recorded into his comp that's looping around. Specifically the notes are playing the first oscillator (a real sound) that zips through all the other modules. Really isn't hard to do on any synth, but looks cooler and funner on a modular synth."
 
Years and years ago, me and a buddy were looking at any picture or video of the setup used for Metallica's Nothing Else Matters. All this equipment for a fill guitar. That vid makes my previous wonderment look very primitive.
 
He fainted from turning dials and clicking his macbook?

Yuck. Who wants their music to meander in circles for 5 minutes, repeating the exact same 16 bars except the 28th time around, there's an extra beep in the background, then at the 47th time around he's added a siren! Oh, 88th time around, you know what that means! LASER SOUNDS!
