If you go HEREConsumer Depot is selling those open boxes of it. Shipping was high for me at $7.50 but heck for $8.50 I ordered HL2.

Let me know what I'm missing here.

PS. I know...the site is slooooooooooooooooow!!

If the Steam account has been activated...well....you're screwed, lol.

Are these new or used??? If its new then they should all have unused cd-keys right?

Damn site takes FOREVER..wow.. 5 minutes and its still loading.

edit: ok..site finally loaded.. it says new/open box. So I guess that its still in the box untouched. Open box doesnt really mean used or anything so I guess this is legit.

well this is what I dug up on it.
link

it says if it is in use, you'd have to send your copy of hl2 along with the reciept within 90 days of purchase or else you have to send them 10 dollars in the mail along with it for anything after 90 days. Still, mailing it in would cost what? 7-10 bucks? Price ends up being around 20.

Check out the thread over at FatWallet. A guy from Consumer Depot reports that less than 5% have used keys and they will replace if the game comes with used key.

I'm in for one. If it works I end up with HL2 for a price that I am willing to pay for. If it doesn't I waste some time getting a new key and still get it for a price that I am willing to pay. Kinda sounds win/win to me.

I think steam charges like 10.00 for a renewed key but you have to work to get it.

So if you get 99 cents plus shipping plus work plus 10.00.

I would just wait for another 20.00 deal. Not worth the risk to me.

Wishfull thinking though.

Doesnt monarch still give a copy will a athlon 64 purchase?

Too bad there seems to be a limit of 1 per order. I'd buy it if i could order 2.

Just to confirm....this retail version does NOT come with CS:Source and the other Steam-available stuff right? More interested in CS, in which case this will probably not do...

really? I remember initially that there was some major advantages in buying HL2 over Steam and not getting the CD package. Anyways, thanks for the info...will go ahead with this then :)

Read the thread at fatwallet. I've posted more there. To sum it up, the consumerdepot rep got banned from fatwallet since he was bumping his thread constantly. Also check the WoW thread...30-40% of the people who ordered got used CD keys, and almost no one got the 10 day guest pass that it was supposed to come with. I ordered WoW, got it with a used CD key, and have been trying to contact consumerdepot ever since. I've left two voicemails and sent two emails in the past week. No reply. There have been several complaints filed with the BBB against this company. Don't trust their resellerratings. Just a year ago, it was around a 3 or a 4. The good ratings today are most likely fake reviews. Order at your own risk.
