mine just got canceled 🙁 really pissed - isnt there something that we can get for them just canceling out on us like that ???? anyway i found another deal and ordered that - check it out - listed it
 
When I got home today my receiver was there waiting for me 🙂 It looks good! I can't find any stickers or any other sign that it is a refurb. Maybe I got a new one?

 
yeah im pretty mad too. that kenwood doesn't even compare with the 5550...
not trying to flame, just saying is all🙁

Agree. The kenwood is not comparable to 5550. No component input at all.

Who knows ? I ordered mine on the 20th when it showed up again "in stock." I then checked my order status at Ubid and it went from processing to cancelled ! It's amazing how quickly they were able to find another supplier of refurb units once they jacked the price up $70.

This was the first time I ever ordered from UBid - and it will probably be the last damn time too :disgust: !
 
I didn't call or write and my order switched from processing to cancelled yesterday. The $200+ price is a rip off since it's available on sale/PM for less than that brand new without scratches.

last i checked, the 5550 is gone completely... only the 5540 and 5560 are left. they did lower the price for the 5540 though $159.99... still refurb.
 
Woah. I put my order in on the 21st when it came back in stock. My order still shows as being in progress, however when I got home today, there was a delivery attempt made from UPS. I checked the tracking on it, and it is from "Warrens" in Brooklyn, NY, which is where previous posters said theirs came from.

So, apparantly I'm getting one? If your order is still showing as in progress, don't give up hope I guess. Though I can't figure out why I would get one, and people that got in earlier aren't, or why my order still shows up as being in progress on their website. uBid seems to have some issues.
 
I called them this morning and explained that I thought it wrong that orders placed later, for an identical product with a higher price, were processed -- while mine and others, at the lower price, were cancelled. They told me to place another order, this time for the $202.99 price, and they'd refund the difference once I received the unit. I received a comment tracking number to verify this, and I re-ordered with Amex, which has been very good to me when I've had problems with vendors in the past, and who I feel I can rely upon to reverse a charge should ubid change their minds. My only question now is if ubid will coveniently run out again.

If there's anyone in New York City or New York State who has had their order cancelled, I'm considering contacting the attorney general's office or some other agency to file a complaint. I live in NYC, and others have posted that it's being shipped from Brooklyn -- so I think that places the transaction firmly within their jurisdiction. I'm not sure how far I'm willing to take this (I suppose it depends on if I receive it or not, how many people were screwed, and if the AG's office even cares), but if you PM me with your contact information, I'll give you any info I get from the AG's office (and it'll be good for me to be able to say to him/her "I've got at least a dozen other people who are ready to file a complaint as well!").

Additionally, if someone who has received theirs could PM me with the complete return address from the box, I'd really appreciate it.

I placed my order on 4/21 and didn't pay the higher price. I paid the $125 price like everyone else, and I got mine on Wednesday.

uBid doesn't actually stock this time...they rely on other companies to fulfill orders. This item went out of stock and back in stock several times over the weekend. Perhaps there were with different vendors and I just happened to be lucky and have my order assigned to a vendor that had enought stock?

Hope everything works out for you...

 
Thanks for the post yellowperil. (not sure if I learned about this deal here first or over at chubby). I got my yamaha 5550 from BB and using BVG with UBID got a BRAND NEW UNIT for 125.99!!!! Thanks again! 🙂
