DEAD: XBOX360 Elite for $299 @ Dell.com

This is a freakin STEAL. I'm tempted to get it so I have we have an Xbox in our family room (mine is hooked up to my workstation in my office).

If I didn't think my wife would put my ass out on the street, I'd jump on this. Falcon + HDMI + 120GB would be a nice upgrade over my year one 360s.

I did forward this to my sister though. She's getting her son a 360 for his b-day in September so he and my son can play online together.

Mad props thawolfman.

This includes the $40 HDMI + optical combo so you don't need to crack your AV cable, plus twice the space of the 60 GB Premium, and a couple of games.

The only drawback is it's a Falcon motherboard instead of Jasper, so the failure rate is alleged by a nameless ex-MS insider to still be 10% instead of ~2%.

Very, very tempting.

I've had my Elite since the day they were released. I think I might pick one of these up to go in my bedroom.

Damn it, I'm in the same position, my wife may honestly kill me but I don't know if I can pass this up................

When I saw this a couple days ago I scanned some of the comments and I think they said it was left over holiday bundles they are clearing out.

Sheesh, look at all these people buying one. If MS would make this permanent.. they'd make a killing.

would anyone advise to wait for the price drop in a month and go for the new chipset even if it means less HDD? 10% failure is still pretty bad if it's not higher than that.

Yea but you still have the warranty, it only takes about 2 weeks for the repair and you get a free month of live 🙂

Same. I have no reason to get this other than I'd like more HDD space. I already have HDMI and haven't had one single problem since my purchase in Sept. And people aren't exactly jumping at used 360s so getting rid of my old one wouldn't be that easy.

10% is very plausible as a maximum, and that probably includes all failures (drives, misc) not just RRoD.

I'm really tempted to buy now, but I'm probably going to resist this deal, but only because:
- I already have MUA for the PS3.
- 60 GB is enough for me even with the play-from-HD feature coming.
- Netflix and play-from-HD probably won't be out for a 2-4 months.
- I have a huge stack of unplayed games for my other systems.

But for anyone who doesn't have a game backlog this is the best deal you'll get for months. The 60 GB Jaspers will be $349 until after the 20 GBs sell out, and the Jasper units won't include a game bundle until close to xmas.

Edit: Dead? Moot point then I guess 🙁

If it's any consolation, I bought my 360 from Dell the last time they had a promotion like this (for the Premium console, as the Elite was announced). It's definitely overstock they're trying to get rid of to allow for new models. I wouldn't be surprised if these were launch Elites (from April 2007).

I got in.....2 actually, but I wasn't sure if this was a real price mistake or a match so I cancelled one of them.

Now I wish I kept the 2nd one. Oh well, if 1 goes through, I'll be happy.

DEAD DEAD DEAD, completed order and it went through at $450, bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sucks for you.

if you check ebay, you can still find a bunch of them for like $380 shipped, not $300 but also not $500 you would pay in stores after tax.

Does dell charge tax?
