Dead woman wins county commissioner's race

A woman who died two months ago won a county commissioner's race in Jerauld County on Tuesday. Democrat Marie Steichen, of Woonsocket, got 100 votes, defeating incumbent Republican Merlin Feistner, of Woonsocket, who had 64 votes.

State laws. The same reason Delay and Foley where on the ballot. In 2000 Mel Carnahan won the Missouri Senate seat over John Ashcroft after Carnahan died in a plane crash. His wife appointed in his place.

In Texas one Congressional race included a dead Republican candidate.

Actually, all this lazy official is going to do falls well under the criteria of 'lie'.

She'll probably get more accomplished than the 'living' officials. At least she won't be involved in a political scandal.

The voters knew she was dead; it's pretty clear they wanted to make a statement.

It just goes to show that people are fed up with the way things are going. To be honest, I think any dead politician is better than a living one. One thing's for sure, at least electing a dead person would save tax dollars....you don't have to worry about them cashing their paychecks!

It was Ashcroft not Rumsfeld.
