Doubt it; actual cost is probably much closer to $300; there is very low overhead on electronics these days. Reason: there are always online retailers willing to sell something for $5 or $10 over wholesale. The other sellers have to cut their prices to keep up.Originally posted by: nsafreak
actual cost for Dell is probably in the neighborhood of $150-$200 if not a bit on the high end.
I got a credit from them, too.Originally posted by: marathonnh
I just got a $5.61 credit to ebates from Dell for my order. Why would this be? Online it says my order was canceled. I would only get a credit if they took the money out-not if they put it on hold-correct?

Yeah, Dell is going to lose thousands of customers because of this you keep on thinking that. Go ahead and e-mail them too, I'm sure they'll honor the price mistake thenI very much doubt they would have lost a small amount of money if they had honored all of those people that ordered it at that price. Those units retail $350-$400, actual cost for Dell is probably in the neighborhood of $150-$200 if not a bit on the high end. I'm sure all of the folks that complain in this thread will continue to shop at Dell's website even if they say in here that they won't.![]()
:brokenheart: BooHoo you called me a noob. Yeah like I care! :evil:Originally posted by: Kyteland
You're right. Postcount has nothing to do with n0obness. I don't think Rain is a noob, and even though you have 10 times the posts he does I do think you are one.
Now making a statement puts me on a high horse? So what kind of horse do you think these noob bashers are on?Speaking of high horses...![]()

if its a $350 item you should try closer to $300

You're absolutely correct on that one - margin for technology-related items is pretty small. For example, on PDAs that sell $700-800 retail, the margin may be at most, $150 for a large corporation. On HP lasers, sometimes it's as small as $30.

I guess the only loser here is ebates.
Dell sure did take a while to send me an email... Wonder if they are still debating as to what to do about this. Why else take 2 days before issuing a statement about the orders and then also take another 2 days to get emails out to everyone (unless their customer relations truely have degrated far more then I believed over this last year)

Ebates doesn't give you credit unless they get the money from Dell first. So, Dell is the loser.
