DEAD - Windows Vista Home Basic Upgrade $49.99

i'd be wary buying from these people based on resellerratings.com. 7.95 lifetime score but nothing in at least 6 months or more. last review was done on 9/21/05...

customer service and shipping costs seem to be the biggest problems.

Wonder if these are the leftovers from the closing CompUSA stores? Too bad it's not premium, nice price for software that normally doesn't go on sale though!

Same here, although I haven't bought from them for about 2 years or so.

I am using my first post to say that this long time lurker decided to be the guinea pig on this one. I went in for one this afternoon and I already have shipping info this evening. But...I know that doesn't always guarantee anything...I'll post my thoughts when and if I get it.

Yeah...but why buy XP Home at this point? That's where your Basic Home buyer/user is coming from.
All those little checks over on the Ultimate side of that link most people use add on programs of their choice for those things anyway. I only see one or two that might be worth having...the rest is pure MS marketing and fluff.
$49 vs $149 or $199

You can use Anytime upgrade to get a fuller version of Windows in the future if you choose to. It looks like a pretty good deal to me.

So I should slap myself when my compusa had the upgrade version for $20 a pop and $60 for the full version premium and I didn't buy any?

Aye 🙂
I actually punched myself for missing out on Ultimate upgrade for $159 :disgust:

Thanks OP. Took a chance and ordered. It will be nice for upgrading a family computer later on for cheap.

Sorry to shoot this back up to the top but wanted to give an update.
Mine shipped the same day and I received it Cali to Wisconsin in 2 days.
Packaging slightly different (not an oem) than other upgrades I have seen.
Anyway....did a clean install using the work around and it's up and running great.
Thanks OP!!!

They cancelled my order. 🙁 I got an email saying that they ran out and that I had placed the order through a cached shopping cart. I had added it in the morning and then got busy at work and didn't place the order until the afternoon. Oh well, you snooze, you lose. Nice deal for those who got in.

Don't forget the academic upgrade version at ~$65. All you need is letter from the principle and you are good to go. My old student ID worked fine.

Linky

Yea - you need S/N and disk from 2000/XP etc, but got those laying around - right?
