From the tab called "Cosmetic Conditions Video" next to "Additional Information":

A Grade: Good Condition. System has passed testing for key and essential functions. A Grade items will have only minor surface blemishes that can be seen but not felt. These blemishes will be less than 3” long. Screens will not have any visible marks or blemishes.

B Grade: Blemished. System has passed testing for key and essential functions. B Grade items will have minor wear and will have more obvious blemishes than our A Grade products. You may find dents of ½” diameter or less, small areas of discoloration from removed tags and stickers, and scratches that are no more than 3” long but may have removed a bit of paint and might be able to be felt with your finger. Any keys, track pads, and mouse buttons may have some wear and shine. Screens may have minor surface blemishes that can be seen when the display is off (For example, screens could have small scuffs, other minor marks less than ¼” long, and keyboard rubs on laptop screens). B Grade units are offered at a higher discount than A Grade items.

C Grade: Scratch and Dent. System has passed testing for key and essential functions. C Grade items will show wear, as well as having more and/or larger dents, discoloration, and scratches, and can also have minor to moderate cracks (up to ½” long). Any latches or hinges may be damaged or broken, and there may be missing or damaged plastic panels, bezels, and covers. Surface blemishes on screens may be larger and more plentiful than those found on Grade B items, and there may also be up to five dead or stuck pixels when the display is on. C Grade units enjoy a deeper discount than B Grade items.

These are good prices even if you just want an OS license. Arrow sales are a good bargain in used gear for PC's for the parents, etc....

EDIT: This one does not come with Window 7.

Here is another one that looks pretty good:

http://arrowdirect.com/hp-compaq-na-dc7900-3-16ghz-core-2-duo-small-form-factor-250gb-2048mb.html

HP DC7900 SFF with E8500, 2GB DDR2, 250GB HDD, Windows 7 for $44.22 shipped ($39.80 shipped after Arrow 10% coupon code)

P.S. I am a little confused by what they mean by SFF though: In the picture below (listed in the link) SFF would normally be the middle computer and the one furthest to the right is called USDT.

hp-dc7900_400.jpg

But it looks like they might be calling the SFF model "desktop" and the USDT model "Small form factor".

That one shows "OS: No". It doesn't come with Win7, or any OS, for that matter.

I noticed some of these Core 2 Pre-builts have the Q45 Express chipset (GMA X4500 iGPU).

According to Phoronix here, this iGPU and the GMA X4500HD/GMA 4500MHD support H.264 decode.

In the GMA X4500 desktop series there are currently two variants, the vanilla X4500 and then the X4500HD. The GMA X4500 is used by Intel's lower-end chipsets, which is currently the G43 and soon-to-be-released G41, while the GMA X4500HD is found on the G45. Intel's IGPs are quite popular on the mobile front and for that they have introduced the GMA 4500MHD, which is the mobile variant to the X4500HD. In addition to the X4500, X4500HD, and X4500MHD, Intel will be introducing a fourth X4500 part in the coming months that will be a cut-down version of the X4500 and used by the forthcoming Q43 and Q45 Chipsets. The IGPs with the "HD" postfix are supposed to be able to handle full 1080p high-definition video playback along with Blu-ray Disc movies, at least under Windows.

The GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) X4500 series is Intel's second graphics solution that supports Microsoft DirectX 10.0 and Shader Model 2.0 (the first was the Intel GMA X3500). In addition, it presents support for Intel Clear Video Technology, HDMI capabilities, and DisplayPort capabilities. Intel Clear Video Technology presents full hardware HD decoding support for H.264, VC-1, and MPEG-2. It also includes HD and SD video post processing support.

In contrast, I know GMA 3100 (also from the Core 2 era) does not have h.264 decode.

So I have been wondering how some of these SFF Pre-builts would work out as a Steam Stream Client (without using a dGPU)? Has anyone tried doing this yet?

(Another cheap Alternative for Game streaming clients might be this PowerColor HD5450, but I haven't done any testing yet).

P.S. According to this Wikipedia the GMA 4500 iGPU originally meant for the Q43 and Q45 Express chipsets wasn't used. Instead the GMA X4500 was used in its place.

EDIT: Just found some clarification in this Anandtech article.

The G45 chipset includes the new Intel GMA X4500 HD graphics core which adds support for H.264 decode acceleration, something that has been absent from all previous Intel integrated graphics solutions. Hardware H.264 decode acceleration is not included in G43 (the G43 only uses the X4500 GPU, without the HD suffix).

So in order to have H.264 decode the pre-built needs GMA X4500HD via G45 chipset. An example of a Core 2 pre-built with this chipset would be HP DX7500.

They have core2quad systems for $92 shipped as well. Throw a $85 Gtx750 and some old ram that everyone has laying around and this seems like it would be a half competent low/med gaming system that would upgrade to Win10?

I noticed the original link I posted had some desktops without OS mixed in, so I updated with a new link that only has desktops with Windows 7.

Unfortunately I was unable to fulfill your order from this weekend. I do apologize for the inconvenience. This was extremely low grade inventory that we do not usually carry online and only sell wholesale or for scrap. Feel free to use coupon code TB15 for 15% off any order through the end of the month. I will have your money that you paid refunded.

I had placed an order for a Lenovo M92 tower with a C2D 2.93 / 4GB RAM / HDD / no DVD / no OS, for $20.00 - 10% off coupon = $18.00 + tax = $19.32. Free shipping.

Maybe they just didn't want to ship something for free, that cost so little?

Oh well. Disappointing.

I just checked my email and noticed they did the same thing to me with my Lenovo 23" 1080p monitor that was under $25 shipped.

That was surprising because last year they shipped me this monitor for $11 shipped. (Monitor worked great)

The problem with that site is that they dont explicitly say whether a notebook or even a desktop has a video card. A search for the word "nvidia" yields zero results, and I find it extremely difficult to believe that none of those computers have nvidia cards.

They do however let you filter for a 256GB HDD size, which means the machine has a SSD. There are a few of those with 2nd gen i5s for under $270 which is a hell of a value. Take the DELL LATITUDE E6220 for example. I'm almost tempted to buy that right now lol.

Man if there was an USFF C2D system on there for $50, I'd be all over that. I need something to stream h264 files.

So I've been really pouring over these guys' inventory and I notice a lot of Core i7 Gen 3 machines. I'd love to snap a few of these up, but the speeds are weird man...

They almost all say 3.3, 3.33, or 3.4 gHz, and these are desktop machines. There aren't any desktop Core i7 processors at those speeds, only Mobile and Embedded, which makes me nervous about pulling the trigger... although $292 for a 128 GG SSD, 8 GB RAM, and a potential Core i7-3770 is getting to be too good to pass up.

What models are you seeing those on? I'd be willing to bet they are SB/IB chips. The 2nd gen i7 chips they have listed there are LGA1156 i7s, so 3rd gen is probably i7 2xxx chips (according to the OptiPlex 390 I saw there).

Did some digging, looks like they are indeed the following processors in the mini-tower configs:

Intel® Core™ i7 3770 / 3.40GHz, 8M, VT-x, VT-d, TXT (vPro™), 77W, straight from the DELL OPTIPLEX 7010 Technical Guidebook.

We are in a goldmine era, people are just sending PCs like this to the recycle bin left and right. If you drop by any IT shop they likely have these waiting to be trashed (mine does, made a game server out of one) and still function just fine. C2D's run light office stuff just fine.
