We have ordered MANY OEM Dell WD drives and I have yet to see one that is shipped with a UPC. Sounds like a stall to me.

BTW - The rebate form states a WD1200BBRTL is required for the rebate yet the 8MB version is a WD1200JBRTL. Yet another Dell screwup.:|

UPC on what OEM package? I have yet to see a OEM harddrive come in any package other than an antistatic bag. Correct me if I am wrong.

I ordered the retail, as it was stated in the rebate form. Yeah, guess what, I actually read the form. For all the people who'd like to blame Dell for messing up, all I can say is: it was still up to you to read the rebate form. I do not blame Dell. Maybe you guys get lucky, maybe not.
This whole thing is so tiresome, greedy people fretting over whether or not they can get over on a copany, once again. Interesting how people come up wiht the most elaborate schemes to take advantage of a sale but fail to read a simple form...

Omg, I forgot the Special Edition model was the JB and not the BB. I wonder if they'll still honor it.

Our invoices should be dated on the day that we placed the order, not when it was packed & shipped, right!?

As a side note.....remember the dual BB rebates on the 120GB WD a couple of weeks ago and how everyone was in a panic about WD saying they wanted the WHOLE capacity label, including the UPC part that we sent in for the other rebate? Well, look at kvizbar's rebate form and see what WD considers the capacity label.....yep, just the part on the front of the box! Looks like that will be good evidence in case they try and refuse the rebate request!

What should I do, cancel? Sundog, are you going to cancel your order? This sucks :( It clearly stated that the rebate was for this drive.

WD1200BBRTL is the drive with the 2MB buffer not the 8MB buffer. It's a different drive than WD1200JBRTL which is Dell Part Number A0060210. In other words they sent the wrong rebate form and it will be rejected.

i just got off the phone with the csr, i ordered both hard drives and he said that the jb one was the wrong one. the correct one is the other one. and he emailed me the rebate form and it mentions the other one, not the jb one.

if anyone wants the rebate or wants to host it, pm me.

Is it the same as the one that's hosted just a little bit up this page?

I am not going to cancel my order. I orderer the retail drive and have the rebate form with the correct drive listed on it.

But the WD12000JBRTL (Dell part #A0060210) product details page (linked in this thread) clearly says Save an additional $100.00 after the manufacturer's mail-in rebate. I think Dell would make good on this even if it was/is a boo boo.

This part number no longer shows up for me via Search or the products list for EIDE drives > 61GB.

Why is everyone freaking out? Can't you just return the drive if there is no rebate? The rebate for the retail drive is still good, isn't it? I bought one OEM at first and then one retail to make sure I was covered.

guys i just went through my emails and found that the description for the WD1200BBRTL is:

WESTERN DIGITAL
120GB Caviar Special Edition Internal EIDE Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive w/8MB Cache.

so, the rebate is not wrong. you people should be worrying about other things, like peace in the middle east.

Returns are too much of a hassle.

Also, the rebate states that it is for WD1200BBRTL, not the JBRTL most of us ordered, and will most likely not be honored by WD. I'm gonna wait it out for a little while longer before I cancel. :confused
