Darn it. I actually ordered the OEM, but covered my butt and ordered Retail too, later that night. Well, when I talked to a CSR, he talked me into cancelling the OEM order since it wasn't covered under the rebate. To top it off, I couldn't get to the computer until about 10PM PDT 10/11 so my Retail order was actually listed at ~1AM 10/12. My Retail drive has not shipped. I probably would have had the OEM drive by now, and a $100 credit. Last time I trust a CSR from Dell.

There's a CSR named Karolyn Ritchie that is still under the impression that an OEM rebate exists.... if someone that has received written confirmation from WD forward it to karolyn_ritchie@dell.com so she can see I'm not full of it, I'd appreciate it. Well, dealing with the BBB got the drive in my hands within the time frame I specified, and the screen capture of the drive having a rebate was sent to a rather nice lady (not Cathy - somebody higher up) and I will receive a $100 credit within 30 days. Hope those who held out receive their drives!

My drive has shipped (retail). I ordered about 2 AM on the 13th 🙂

oh boy, I'm going drizzy. I guess they mail out the order randomly or something. I ordered on the 11th but nothing yet.

Seems like most of you guys got your drives shipped... i wonder when is my turn.....🙁
Retail.. pay more and wait longer.. suxkxx 😕

Random order of shipment... how weird. But that's what previous experiences with Dell has been according to most ppl.

Ok, so I ordered 3 of these babies under 2 different profiles. At first I ordered an OEM drive (before anyone knew it was OEM) early Friday morning. Then on the same profile I ordered a retail drive. I called to cancel the retail drive but it looks like they either cancelled the OEM or didn't cancel either, because it says my retail drive shipped. The other retail drive I ordered with my other profile is still "in production".

3 drives? boy talk about greed.

I'm sorry.. but I dont see that as being greedy. If he needed 3 drives, thats cool. It's not going to keep you and me from getting ours.

you're telling me it has nothing to do with the reason that the shipping dates are post poned as much as they are? i guess you're right, if he needed 3 so be it. i just don't like it when people miss out on deals because others buy a bunch just to ebay it or sell eslewhere.

I'm very encouraged that drives are shipping for people. Still nothing on my order ( Retail placed afternoon of the 12th). Still says it will ship on or before Oct. 16🙂 Maybe next week.

ordered a retail drive on the 11th @ about 6:20 pm PDT. already shipped and scheduled for delivery on the 31st. nice halloween present 🙂

now, we've all complained about dell not keeping real time inventory. what about fullfilling orders in an orderly fashion? Not that i'm complaining too much, i got my s330 before others who purchased before me 😉

Where is everyone from? Maybe the orders are first divided to different warehouses... and then depedning on when those warehouses get stock, they ship like that....

Ditto.
Not to mention that it's skirting fraud when the rebate clearly states the limitation of "one per customer/name/address".

- order placed 10/11/02 10:13:53 PM this is on the email I recieved from dell.

Retail drive an I'm in Mississippi, not shipped yet 🙁

except for one person, everyone that has had their retail drives shipped ordered on or before Oct 11th, 9PM eastern/6pm pacific.

i would say either that one person is a fluke or a mistake, and dell is shipping the drives out in order that your order was placed.
i doubt dell would place any preference on location or 'price paid'.

there is so much idle speculation and bad info here in this thread it's outrageous.
