can I get a post-marked envelope at the post-office,

You get my point?

I tried that once, but when I tried to mail it, the Post Office said it was illegal. If you get it postmarked, you have to get it mailed the same day...or that's what they told me, at least. But I'm sure they won't check all envelopes, so you could try.

Rebates - Specific Inquiries
For questions regarding rebates, please call Western Digital at 888.292.0667.

Anyone tried this number? Found it on WD's website. Might be interesting to hear what they have to say.

And this was taken from WD's website as well:

Rebates Forms
Rebate forms are only available at the retailer where the drive is purchased.

JMHO.

LOL, that's funny cause you are too right! I'm a field engineer for a 4th party contractor company, 60-70% of the calls I do are remote Dell warranty calls in northern Texas and southern Oklahoma, I HATE calling into their phone techs, they have little-no experience and absolutly no management clout, to get anything done right the first time you have to get a manager on the line anyway.

Thanks, NFS4!
But, could you tell us how you got the form?
What did your CSR say?
Is Dell going to post it on their site, or is everyone supposed to contact them to get the form?
The differences between the previous BB form and your new JB form are the promotional period (BB: 10/8/02 thru 10/13/02; JB: 10/8/02 thru 9/13/02) and the number of days within which the rebate forms needs to be postmarked (BB: 30 days; JB: 14 days).
Seems like they want to make some of us not able to make it before the 14 days.
Should I use certified mail or what?
I remember there was also a $100 rebate in the past, what did you guys use that time?

<edit: WAY OT ;)>

as you may or may not know, dell csr's, especially at 1st level, aren't dell employees. they work for other companies that dell outsources to. turnover in these positions is relatively high, people go in for about a year to get experience, get training (a lot of the companies will pay for your mcse/a+/etc) and get out to a better position.

dell techs have generally been pretty good to me, course i've never had an issue that would require a service visit besides a fan replacement in my laptop. compaq have been great as well.

Just talked to a CSR and he said the latest info he has is that the previosly posted rebate form for the JBRTL drive has incorrect dates, so they are aware of that problem.

He also said they are aware that the OEM drive (A0009295) had also referrenced a $100 rebate and that they were trying to incorporate that drive also.

ETA for the updated rebate form according to the CSR is tomorrow morning.

And keep in mind that it's standard procedure that they also consider the date you *received* the item if there's a deadline. They usually want a copy of the shipping papers, which show the shipped date.

Ok, i just checked my order status for the retail 120 gb drive, and now it says shipping estimate is Oct 21 - 23rd. Does this mean I won't get it in time to use the rebate? :/

i'm still not sure. Because technically, i placed my order the 12th, and if the rebate ended on the 13th, i should be able to still send it in, right? i mean, it said in the agreement that I would have up to 30 days.
