Here are three recommendations listed by lowest price first:

1) SolidInternet.com for $30/yr is a great value, only catches are primarily forum based support and no CGI/Perl support.

2) AddAction.net for $9.95 for first 6 months then $6.95/mo after. Excellent web host they host dozens of AT'ers web sites including mine and PlanetHzl.com. 500MB/10GB resources should be sufficient for your needs. Refer 10 or more customers and your web hosting is FREE FOR LIFE!.

3) CredibleHost.com for $9.95/mo is a bargain when it comes to reseller web hosting. Reseller web hosting is GREAT because you can host as many domains as you want, your only limitation are your resources ... you specify what resources each domain gets, you don't have to "resell" your web hosting it's perfectly ok to host only your sites and people you know. Several AT'ers who have reseller accounts charge friends $5/mo to host their site, get 2 friends, neighbors or co-workers to sign up and your web hosting costs are covered. What's nice about CredibleHost is their selection of control panels I would recommend DirectAdmin, Ensim Pro or the popular WHM/cPanel. They could have a coupon which doubles your resources for FREE so you get 2GB/20GB for only $9.95/mo ... In addition to hosting your personal pictures, you could easily host another 20 web sites for only $9.95/mo.
 
Went with Addaction... decent so far, Control panel is flaky right now, most because of synching nservers, domains etc... hopefully i'll be able to properly connect soon enough.

Looking for a deal for my mom right now. I went with Dixiesys before and was happy with them. Also considering AddAction.net based on Rossman's recommendations. Are all these companies, at this price point, pretty much the same? Just choose one and go with it?

Also, could someone comment on if it makes it much more difficult to register a domain with one company and then get it transferred to another hosting company? Last time I did everything (domain and hosting) via dixiesys and it went pretty smoothly. I see from Rossman's recommendation for Naecheap.com for domain registration. Is it pretty straighforward to use them and then have AddAction do the hosting? Just trying to make it as easy as possible for her, and then at the same time, trying to find a nice deal.

Hey Rossman thanks, my webhosting just expired and now I find this thread 🙂 Just one thing...does addaddiction offer any subdomains? I also went through dixiesys with host and domain so "they" are all i know about hosting and domains.

Hmm... I've been with readyhosting for quite a few years now and they've always had a nice all-in-one deal at about the same price... what makes this a great offer at $7.50/mo. ?
