DEAD: WD 200GB for ~$10 after MIR, Edit: only one $100 MIR now

I'm going to pass on this one. I seriously doubt they will honor both rebates. I'll just buy a 120gb drive for $60.00 from OD.

Better safe than sorry!

Just FYI, previous Dell/WD deals that have asked for the capacity label have been _denied_ because it turns out they actually wanted the UPC. I've been fighting w/WD to get a $120 rebate from the beginning of July for months now.

Just a warning. If you are going to go for this, make sure you've got something _on tape_ or _in writing_ from the rebate center.

Having multiple ways to submit the rebate does not mean that you ARE going to get 2 rebates.

True. But on the other hand, Dell stating that the price is "$246.95
+ Up to $200.00 in mail-in rebates" is IMO misleading and flirting with fraudulence. To hell with Dell.

Someone heard me I guess:

WESTERN DIGITAL
200GB Caviar Special Edition Internal EIDE Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive with 8MB Cache - Retail Kit
$246.95
Usually Ships: Same Day
ADDITIONAL MAIL-IN REBATE

+ WESTERN DIGITAL Mail-In Rebate: $100.00
Rebate Details

So I take it one of the rebates woul de denied, just as gibster thought.

EDIT: Sorry for that ianbergman. didn't see your post sitting there at the time.

Me too. I was thinking about, went to a different website, then thought I'll buy it, clicked the back bottom, and the second MIR was missing, LOL. Strange though that both rebates said they wanted the original capacity label. But dell was advertising save $200.

I've done this before with Dell and it worked out.

I ordered 1 and mine will be $38 after MIR's

🙂🙂

CALL Dell. They specifically told me that they are NOT going to honor these rebates as they have in the past to avoid annoyed customers. They said they have changed their policy. Call them.

thanks for the info, i just made an update, let me know if anything else happens, i may just cancel the order. i guess it was too good to be true. damn...

if there was any chance of this happening, it sure won't now with all the idiots who called and warned them about it.

Trying to get people to not call is an absolute lost cause. No amount of posting here will stop everyone from calling, and actually, it makes no difference in terms of wether or not it will be honored. The only difference it makes is how quickly they take the deal down.

I ordered my drive last night along with a Radeon 9600 pro. Total shipped was 368.00 After the 10 percent off and a $25 coupon, and hopefully I get both items for 168 AR. The Radeon shipped today although the website stated that it would ship in 5-7 days. The hard drive has not shipped yet, although it said it would ship same day. I made the order around 9:30 pm CST Thursday Night.

Anyone have their hard drive ship out yet, and if you did what day and time did you place your order?

Good Luck to everyone who got in on this deal.

OOPS

I just spoke with Western Digital rebate Center and they confirmed that a $100 rebate is on the WD2000JB AND that it is the RTL retail package.

Also, they stated that Dell had double posted the rebate (actually they're different) and acknowledged that Dell had incorrectly stated that there was up to $200 in rebates.

Mine is confirmed at $187.98 shipped

$87 is still a good deal with the 8MB cache!

how did you get it for $187? what kind of coupons?

How did you get it to ~$188??? hope it wasn't by ordering the wrong drive

the correct drive for the rebate was priced around $222 after the 10% off...there was another wd 200gb drive that was for $187.16 on dell's site but that isn't covered by the rebate (the part # is WD2000JB for the $187.16 drive currently listed at dell and if you look at the rebate only the WD2000JBRTL is valid)

The $187 drive is the BARE DRIVE, and the bare drive isn't covered by the rebate...he's screwed.

I confirmed with Dell and Western Digital that it IS the RTL package. It took ten minutes with Dell to confirm that this is the one on the rebate form(s).

As Western Digital confirmed that Dell misposted the $200 in rebates, it may end up that you get $200 or only $100. YMMV I suppose and probably how hard you push Dell. They knew of the problem.

$187 showed up in my cart. I went through ecoupons for Dell Home.

$187 shipped - $100 rebate

I'll submit both with the requested documentation and see what happens.

Ship date Oct 8

Let's test that link (never done that before) [Link

mine is schedule to ship on Oct. 1, problem is if i refuse it, i will be charged with %15 restocking fee. ouch.

as long as you don't open it, i think it's ok (unless you buy from SB division?)

from dell's page:
"Unopened Merchandise

Any merchandise for which the original manufacturer's packaging (including any shrink-wrapped or otherwise sealed package containing disks or diskettes for software) is unopened may be returned to Dell, only if accompanied by a Credit Return Authorization Number (CRA), within 30 days of invoice date for a refund of the purchase price, excluding original shipping charges. I placed an order fort this item, with normal shipping on 9/26 and received an acknowledgement on 9/27. They finally confirmed my order on 10/1 and totally resolved the rebate issues.

The order date was changed to 10/1 making it impossible to claim one of the rebates!
