DEAD w/10,000 orders in 48 mins... $750 off $1499+ Inspiron

Inspiron 700m - $847.55 shipped (x2)
Inspiron 6000 - $877.55 shipped

This took 35 minutes to do, and I preconfigured everything at 5:50am. Since I forgot to factor in that unstackable instant -$300, it threw me off and I had to reconfigure... I guess I pulled off a close one. Makes me wish I didn't buy that m6810 a half a year back.

Well, I wanted to upgrade to 768 or 1 gig RAM, so it makes it a little easier if you get the minimum.

The warrenty isn't worth it to me, but it could be to you. Many of the big CC companies extend warrenties for an additional year, included Citi and AMEX.

Playmaker, Dell charges $250 to get 2x512. Who knows wha't you'll be getting (spec wise.)
I got this from newegg:
PQI POWER 512MB DDR2 533 SODIMM
N82E16820141193x2=$205.00+shipping
and a friend is buying the 256 stick for $25 so it works out.

This has been one of the most amusing Hot Deals threads, I loved it.

I didn't get my order in and in retrospect I'm glad I didn't because:
  • First and foremost I don't really need a new laptop, I'll just pay down our car loan with the $772 I would have spent on this laptop.
  • People have reported some prices were inflated a little, not sure if this is true or not. My "ideal" configuration before 8AM was $1522.
  • $899 minimum to receive free shipping kinda kills it for me, my total was around $772 after coupon.
  • I'm still undecided between the 700m and 6000. The local Dell kiosk will have a brand new Inspiron 6000 on display around 4/25. So this will give me more time to research models and possibly when I next buy a laptop I can get 2.0/DVD Burner for under $850 shipped. Besides I really like HP laptops and it's tough choosing between Dell and HP.

10,000 orders placed within 1 hour 😱

Congratulations to those who got in and let's cross our fingers this will repeat around October 2005, I'll be ready and waiting.

I'm glad my order didn?t go through, on a positive note my site got hammered this morning.

Why are you glad your order didn't go through? Care to elaborate?

Our site/forums also got hammered but handled the traffic with no problems thanks to our dedicated server

I'm glad because i didn't have to spend more $$$. I've spent over $4K this month and am very happy with my two weeks old 9300.

******SHIPPING CHARGE PROBLEMS? LOOK HERE******

As stated earlier, my order was over the $899 apparently required for free shipping but yet I was charged shipping when I received my Order Confirmation. I see others have the same issue.

I called and got the $49 taken off so just call and I'm sure they'll take care of you.

That's the guy I talked to. Hopefully, that helps someone out. He was real cool and got it the shipping taken off real quickly.

the order had to be 899? my order was 803 and i used a 100 concession to drop to 703, 49 shipping charge was added to make it 752...

i guess i'll just think it as a 50 dollar concession instead... but i filed to their email support already

Well, lucky for my co-worker, a good friend of mine is eligible for the EPP program. So just placed an order, came to $995 shipped for a 700m:

1.8ghz
256mb ram (going to newegg for another 512)
60gb hard drive
2yr warranty
2nd battery (8-cell)
24x Burner/DVD Combo

$1725 - $750 = $975 - $58.50 (6% discount) + $77.85 tax = $994.35

Not bad.
Ok, it was a bad time to be away from AT over the past couple days/nights. Anyway, I'm reading through these DeLL deals now. I'm eligible for EPP also. The $750 off is working in EPP as well? Also, the deal above does not seem that great, no?

She wanted the 2yr and the 2nd battery. Take that away and it'd have been close to $200 less.

Considering she ended up with a normally $1725 + tax on $1725 for under $1k, I'd say it's a good deal. It ends up to about 42% off regular price....

Ooophhh, good morning everyone. *rubs eyes* so when does the sale begin?.............. :light: blink blink :| 🙁:disgust::frown: So when's the next one? :brokenheart:

When I checked out and confirmed my order, it said free shipping.

My email order confirmation showed a $49 charge for shipping :| .

Time to get on the phone.

This sucks. I tried to get one of them at 9:00 EST this morning and they were already gone. Is it true that they opened the coupon up early?

uh i got my order in at 9:15... and i woke up late at 9:03ET too...

did you forget to set daylight time last week? ur a week late buddy...

I wanted the Free Shipping and figured I did not get it because my final order was less than $899, so I called to add a 2nd battery and was told NO WAY on adding the free shipping.

I gotta say that paying tax and shipping makes this much less attractive. I got the 700m which is a way nice ultraportable, but I've seen the comparable Averatec for the same final price. Hmmmmm.....I suppose I still like the deal.

8 AM CST and it was sold out of 10 000 in 40 minutes.

I had my order saved in my basket since the previous evening, and the alarm clock set for 5 AM PST.

I see. I just went for 2x256. Hopefully I won't regret it. This is a desktop replacement for the mammoth gaming PC I bought 2 years ago when I started college and ended up never playing a game on. I have a gig in it and hopefully dropping down to 512 won't bother me as internet, word, ppt, and excel are the extent of my computer activities.

Another note on the $899 shipping. When I called to change shipping addresses to a nontaxed locale, my price dropped to $893 but they didn't add shipping.

Any other opinions on the warranty? I'm just curious as to what everyone else is doing and if anyone knows if the warranty can be extended later on. I've built and OCed a handful of PCs for myself and friends and have had only 1 bad part (WD HDD) in 5+ years, but I've never had a laptop so I'm kind of paranoid I guess.
