DEAD: Vista Home Premium 64 bit $50.00

Probably clearancing off the non-SP1 versions.

I myself went and bought the retail version just to make sure I complied with the EULA. Didn't want to have to call up all the time and lie.

That would be a good deal if it was still around. I just put together a box for a client and paid $99 for the OEM version thru Newegg. Sure wished I could have saved $50 for the customer. Whaterver the case thanks for the post OP!

Damn! Sorry, I bought mine yesterday and forgot to post here. I got an e-mail that it already shipped this morning.

It's been a while since I was active on this forum and I forgot about my fellow ATers. My bad.

Just for those considering x64, I've been trying out both Vista 64 and Server 2008 64-bit. While it's great to have Windows finally recognize over 3.25 gigs of ram, there are an awful lot of programs and drivers out there that still don't work properly for these OS'. It has not been a real smooth transition from XP to x64. I had to buy a new webcam because there are no 64-bit drivers for any of my three older webcams; MyHD drivers don't work with Vista 64, so I had to use another HD tuner; the newest version of VMWare Server for Vista/Server08 64 is garbage so far.

I would definitely audition x64 on a spare computer before plunking down dinero on either of 'em.

But I don't use any weird hardware 😛

Just what's in my sig. Nothing fancy 😛

I definitely agree that anyone using expansion cards for anything other than graphics should be very wary of x64, though.

Not to turn this thread into a software forum, but I bought the 64 bit version primarily because I'm running two 768 MB Cards in addition to my 2GB of RAM. My understanding is that graphics card memory counts as addressable memory in Windows.

Only retail copies can order the alternate version's disk

I've been using Vista 64 for over a year now, and the only drivers I have problems with are... hmm... wait, I've never had any issues with drivers. Or software for that matter...

Actually, I can think of one recent case that 64 bit doesn't work - UB Funkeys (my son has it), the driver for the USB thing doesn't install.

You can use the 64 bit OEM disc with a 32 bit OEM key, you just can't order the DVD from MS. IF you can find some other way to acquire the DVD it will work.

I ordered a 32 bit academic version about 8 months ago and ordered the 64bit disk about 4 months ago through MS without issue. Have they changed the policy?

Also, you may want to kill this dead thread Woofer......

I bought Vista business from my school program (32bit) and used a x64 install disc and the serial worked fine
