For those that got in on it, I can attest that while it's not the most popular of the new series of cards, it aint bad, at all. I've had mine for maybe 3 months, and upgraded from a 128mb ti4200.

Far Cry (high, ultra)
16x12
2xAA 8xAF
35 to 70 fps

Doom3
12x9 (high)
0xAA 0xAF
30 to 50 fps

GTA3 (loved it, didn't play well on my ti4200)
16x12
6xAA 16xAF
...and smooth as silk

COD (highest)
16x12
2xAA 4xAF
40 to 70 fps

So you get the idea. Crank it up!

Superb! I just got mine, delivered here in N.J. I thought they cancelled it because they never even sent me a email saying that it was shipped. Just a order confirmation email right after I placed my order. Thanks again deldd for the great deal. One question. The box say's that the card is DVI-In and Tv-out. Does anybody know if this model can be flashed to a x800xt or x800xtpe?

I've researched to see if this card could be softmodded like the Vivo cards and it seems that it is not easily done. At Rage3d I did find someone who says 4 of his friends have been able to mod their cards. This was a while back. Following is the link if you are interested and i copied the post that applies.

All 5 of us ordered from Outpost.com, we ordered the Visiontek x800pro. After hearing about the hardmod, we decided we would take a night and see if we could work some magic. We went down to a local hobby shop that dealt with trains, and purchased 2 conductive pens.

All of our cores were the same, GA9004.1. I opted not to do mine, because I was perfectly happy with the speed the PRO offered(plus i didn't want to fubar my card yet); however, they decided to give it a shot. after carefully connecting the bridges, and reaplying the thermal paste we put the HSF back on, and tried our luck. I do not recall anybody flashing the BIOS since is was generally agreed that the cards may not be able to support the XT spec..ATI Tool reported 16pipelines..at the pro speeds. All 4 were success stories, without any problems.

I'm not sure about what memory timings they are using since they did not flash the bios, but to this day none of them have complained about the card going back to 12pipelines.

I wouldn't expect any of the softmods to work because of the lasercut, I'm sure it's doable, but just not yet. Just a FYI, all 4 cards that were modded have been able to reach overclocks of 590/1.2ghz which stock from the pro is over a 100mhz OC.

Thanks for the info waxking1. Hopefully I'll be happy with the cards performance right out of the box. I've never modded a video card before and would probably end up ruining a good card.

Take into consideration that that was posted in May when the hard mod was easy and pretty commonplace. Since then, people are saying (for the most part) that it's not doable because the ATI drivers detect either the BIOS of the card or the revision of the chip on the card. I'm hoping someone is brave enough to try it on their card to see if it's still doable but, for the most part, it seems like there's a couple of revisions that work and you're SOL on the extra 4 pipes.

On the plus side, I've read some reviews saying that people have overclocked the core's of these cards to the point to where they almost give the performance of an XT anyway. So, that might be an option if we can't open the other 4 pipes...

BAH! I'm in NJ and I got canceled!

i got this card in late July, and i tried the mod about 1 month ago, and it did not work.

sorry, but you still got a hella deal! wish i'd have seen it, i'd of bought another.

ps. my card is still perfectly fine after having done the mod

Got an AA core chip. Looks like I'm out of luck for modding. Hope someone eventually figures out how to get around the driver lock out....I'd really like those 4 extra pipes 🙂

re: "Calling kills hot deals"

I would agree as notifying an actual person of the error allows them to make corrections/changes/cancellations more quickly. Otherwise, with their highly-automated ordering and fulfillment systems, it likely would be at least hours before it came to their attention ... it's not like they're collecting SPC (Statistical Process Control) data at high frequency levels on customer orders to be able to catch such mistakes.

re: Hard modding

No, but this baby overclocks pretty well ... Samsung memory

I popped in the visiontek today and installed ATI tool. Overclocks were decent but seem below par in comparison to others. I got 340/340 on stock (samsung memory chips). anyone have similar results?

Yeah, 340 is a bit low considering stock is 450MHz.

Something is definately wrong there. Did someone switch a card on you?

yes that's quite abnormal. mine memory is up to 570 right now.

With ATItool my card will clock to 550/550. The memory will go higher with the core lower. I can run 520/570 stable. I have found threads where many people have been successful in hardmodding the card to get the other 4 pipes opened. It is not always successful but works many times. You have to scrape two solder points on the chip and connet them. There is more than one way for this to be done.

I find that my card runs so well that I don't need the hardmod yet. I'm running FarCry with all setting maxxed at 1280 x 720 and it is totally smooth. I am running the card at 520/540. I use the card on a DLP projector is the reason for this resolution.
