Yes I played COD4 with EVERYTHING up at 1680x1050 and it was nearly flawless and plenty playable. This is a great card at a great price! It is in a mATX case and boy is it cramped I have had zero overheating issues...in fact the fan just barely spins up. I would say the performance improvement is on pair with my upgrade to the 9700 pro back in the day. I just can't remember exactly what I was running before that...may have been a TI4200 from nVidia that was overclocked like the dickens after mounting a GlobalWin FOP32 HSF to it.

I got the last one at my local BB today. Had to stop in and get something little. I was kinda hoping they'd have two, I wanted to try a Crossfire setup in a Precision T3400.

Well, mine has a problem with the fan. I have the revision 1 (dual slot cooler) and when I stand the case up, the fan ticks on something inside the cooler, but it doesn't when it's lying flat. WTF.

There's no way that PSU even puts out a real 350W.

RE this vs. the 8800GT...it was stated that this card (3870) is better for big screen HD. What about for all-purpose use on a 21" flat panel? Would either suffice?
Would this card be a good upgrade from a 7900GT?
I'm also curious to know about issues with this card & Asus motherboards. Anyone using this card & an Asus motherboard w/o problems?

I think it's better for HDTV because you can send better audio via HDMI vs 8800gt. For display only, should be fine with either. Very good upgrade from 7900gt.

Heh, finally decide to get this, and of course OOS everywhere... closest store is nearly a 2 hour round trip. Ah well, another 12% coupon unused and my $77 GC unused. Until the next deal.

I know the feeling. Online POS showed my local store was still in stock yesterday. I finally decided to bite this morning, checked, and they're OOS. Oh well... didn't need it that bad. Just means I can wait for the 4800's to come out.

I returned my defective card to the BB across town, since the one I had purchased it at was OOS. They only had two of the cards left in stock, but thankfully the one I got doesn't have the same fan problem.

I've got 3 BB's near me...if you wanna call a 2 hour round trip for any of the 3 near!
Sometimes it sucks living in the boonies!
I may have to suck it up, though, & be prepared to do the drive & pay the (probably) ~$15 that it'll take for gas!
Come to think of it, I may need a hdd worse. At least I can get those by continuing to sit here on my duff! :)

If you want to save gas money, just go to my e-bay auction below that ends tomorrow and bid on it, I don't think it will go for much above $130. All the other ones that I've watched have ended around $140-$150. I bought 4 from my BB, kept 1 and selling the other 3 on e-bay.

*Edit* I guess I'll delete my e-bay auction link, didn't know it was frowned upon.

Which revision? Where do you live? I *might* be willing to paypal you cost+shipping if they are the ones with the orb cooler (Rev. 2 or 1.2 or something like that... the one I have is Rev 1) on it instead of the dual slot one - I'm looking into getting an aftermarket cooler for the dual-slot one I got, but I'd really like one with fixed BIOS.

On a side note, anyone who got one get a card that auto lowered clock from 800MHz to 300MHz when in 2D mode? Mine stays at 800MHz and the BIOS fix is only for the BBA version of the card.

on mine.. I got the revision 1 with the dual slot cooler..works great for me.

anyways..the box had a huge window in it, and you could easily see which cooler was on the card.

Hey to all.. I had some RL stuff come up this past weekend which prevented me from going to BB before they went off sell. I checked Sunday and they were already back up to normal pricing.

I do apologize for not being to help you guys out.

anyone run 3dmark06 on one of these??? i can't get it to run... tried the card in 2 different systems, fresh installs of cat 8.5 and 3d06... it just sits there at the first little screen and eats up .5 of my cpu...

got the answer... there's a patch at futuremark...
