yo make what readable?

Sorry I meant that DVD+RW discs can be make readable in older drives whose firmware doesn't recognize the discs. DVD+RW have the same reflectivity as DVD9 (dual layer) they have a bit set utility that sets the id of the disc to DVD so older DVD-ROMS will recognize it, see dvdplusrw.org

well, its supported under nero so why dont you just rent games instead of downloading images? I believe nero should work fine to copy. Thats what my ex-roomate uses

Nero isn't good for backing up games, I backed up FFX and after 30 hrs the game just refused to play when I tried to go to the next screen, did it with RecordNow MAX and it worked fine.

I think there is some way to convert the GI file to something nero can burn but I don't know exactly how

I know that you can copy PSX CDs with DVD+ using the CloneCD app, but I don't know if it can do PS2. I will have to check on that.

I just tested it out last night, and YES it does. Specifically, version 4.10 and up. I don't know about any other lesser version, but I started with v4.10 and used the upgrade to v4.50 found on Stomp Inc's Website.

Here's the direct link for the upgrade:
http://downloads.stompinc.com/support/stprnm450v.exe

I burned a backup of 007 Nightfire (2.3GB) onto an Imation DVD+RW without any problems. It took about 30 minutes or so to rip and burn at the "min" speed setting read and write. I used the DVD+RW for testing purposes, to make sure everything was going to stream properly...I'll probably try a TDK DVD+R tonight.

The burner comes up as a NEC ND-1000A.

If your original order was placed on backorder OfficeMax has the drive back in stock and on their web site, but you might have to call them up and tell them to send you the drive that you have on backorder.

BTY: The $40 rebate expires Saturday (1-25), so your reorder needs to be made before the rebate ends.

My backordered drive shipped yesterday. I called customer service about my drive to confirm its shipment. Even got the csr to apply another 30 off 150 coupon on top of the 50 off 250. They had to cancel my original drive order to resource it. They had calculated the 50 off into the new price so no discount was showing. Thought I'd ask for a new discount to apply and it worked. Go figure. Being nice helps sometimes.
